Green Bay and the Panthers

No, I'm not looking ahead to that matchup. But how does this sound: we look VERY similar right now.

Everybody discounts this team because we're not flashy. We're not going out and eating teams up with big plays or throwing up crazy numbers. We're just beating teams any way we can. That's it.

But if you look at the numbers and the schedules of these two teams, and then look at the media narratives for each, you'll see the point I am making.

Here are the general narratives for each of these teams, at this point:

GB: Man, they look good. Off to a fast start. Team to beat in the NFC. Road to the Super Bowl may run through them.
Car: Well, they're 4-0, but you can't really trust their record. I mean, they haven't exactly been winning pretty against bad teams. Atlanta is still better and will win that division, but Carolina MAY have a chance. Wild card team.

OK, I get it, no love for us, not griping much about it. It can't be a surprise, because it's US we're talking about.

GB has played nothing but 1-win teams to this point.
Carolina has played nothing but 1-win teams to this point.

GB points allowed/points for: 71/113
Car points allowed/points for: 71/108

This team cannot be scoffed at any more than GB can. Whatever BS excuse you want to give as to why the Packers are more legitimate right now than us, it doesn't matter. Strictly looking at how the teams are playing, both teams are doing what is necessary to win football games in this league. Looking on paper, our team is putting up points almost identically on pace with GB, and our defenses are allowing teams with 1 win to put up, on average, 17-18 points per game (which is the recipe for winning in this league. Keep teams to 2 TDs and a FG and you win typically).

We have an extra week to prepare for Seattle. No reason why we can't win that game. We're good enough, we should be healed up (minus CJ) and we should be mentally ready for that game. All that will be left is to play and show them all that we can be 5-0 and beat a team that is "legitimate". That confidence spike will be big for the rest of October and into November.

This stat jumped at me while I was looking over the standings at NFL. Glad you made a topic about it.

Yes, us and GB are very much alike but no one sees it yet. We'll just have to play them in NFC Championship.

After playing Seattle so tough in the Playoffs, I think we have the confidence to beat them in Seattle and if we beat Seattle then that will give us the confidence for the rest of the season.

We will give GB a good game in BOA.

As much as the media is on Atlanta's nuts ... They have not beaten anyone with a winning record either

    • Also, the fact we are comparing this one to the 10 preseason tells me we are in for another horrible year.
    • Well, they're both in the same league (if you will). During preseason, Fitz went 3/3 & Sauls went 5/6, but of course Sauls was 4/4 last night (including one 50+). Both were Lou Groza Award finalists. I believe Fitz made two 55+ yarders last season, while Sauls led the nation with three. Fitz was 13/13 (💯) while Sauls was 21/24 (87.5). Fitz was a 3rd-Team AP All-American, while Sauls was a PFF All-American.  Career-wise, Fitz was 58/74 (78.4), while Sauls was 52/64 (81.3). I wish that I could see the attempts and knew the depth of yardage. I wish that we could compare practice kicks during their training camps, but we can't. Maybe someone with a PFF/CFF account can give that Basically it's just a matter of belief I guess. Seeing dude knock down four FGs and go perfect during a pressure-filled game for him is damned impressive if you ask me. I don't believe that Fitzgerald could do that.  That being said, I'd have to know more. I will say that it may be worth mentioning that we seem to like PFF this year and Sauls being a PFF All-American may be notable. Now that being said, the Panthers may not be even considering Sauls.
    • Ive said it 1000x times on here.  Our 2025 season will be dictated by the first 4 games.  poo the bed there and lose all confidence and momentum, we win 5 games maybe.  Go 2-2, 3-1 we got a look at 7/8 wins
