Pep Moved Back To LE Right?

Should C.J finally get a chance to start at LE and move Pep back to RE. Cause he really has talent and potential. His technique is good, has quickness and some size. Only problem is he get caught tooo much into rushing the QB and may forget about a draw or something like that

Or, if Pep is back at the LE, who starting at RE?

Brayton.....probably to be replaced by Brown sometime throughout the season.

I don't think so.

If anybody replaces Brayton, it's going to be Johnson. Brown just isn't ready yet. He made some great plays in the preseason and he has a great drive, but he still got shoved around pretty routinely. I think he'll be a great starter for us, but not this year. This year, he'll be a great pass rush specialist.

I really think Johnson is due a little more playing time. I like Brayton and realize he plays the run a bit better, but with a young and inexperienced secondary, we're going the front four to generate as much pressure as possible.

And Peppers is still at right end, as TarHeel points out. But expect them to move him around a bit.

Thats what I'm saying. I coulda sworn I read Pep might be moving back to LE this offseason. Guess not

IMO, C.J at this time should start cause he has more potential than Brayton. If not starting, more playing time. Getting better at the run will come with more playing time

doesn't matter who starts. they are all going to be rotated in and out a lot.

pep an brayton get the start but it's going to be changing up a lot after that. pep is the RDE and brayton is the LDE starting off, though.

according to the panther website the depth chart looks like this:

RDE: peppers, brown, taylor

LDE: brayton, johnson, brown

they were playing around with pep switching sides some during the preseason games. i think they are going to be pretty free with switching people around. expect anything.

i imagine we will be seeing a good bit of brayton and johnson even at DT on passing downs.

Johnson and Brown are both good situational rushers. Neither is good against the run. Peppers and Brayton can do both. Brayton was improved last year and will be even better this year. That takes nothing away from Johnson who is getting better as well. I suspect that we will need him and Brown for the future if we lose Peppers at the end of this season.

I really think and hope that we will get creative with Pep this year. Maybe give him what he wanted and mix in a few 3-4 packages and let him be the rush LB. Or more realistic let him line up all over the place. One play have him at DT, then LDE, Back to RDE, and maybe a few as a LB. Make offensive coordinators have nightmares about how to gameplan against him. If you want a guy like Pep, who most say has a motivation problem, to succeed you have to give him something to get excited about and this is how you do it.

    • Why don't we just say they can shove the late round draft picks up their ass? If they want a player they will be starting at WR in Week 1, I want a MLB in return that we can start Week 1. Starter for a Starter Not Starter for a draft pick we'll be debating whether or not they should make the final 53 man roster in 2026.
    • Why?   No. This isn't a situation of a player we want to trade because we have no use for them.  He's our starting slot WR, our leader of the young WR room, Bryce's safety option the last 2 years who he has good chemistry with. If the Vikings didn't run into WR trouble, we'd never have been even considering trading him, so why in the world should we give him up for fair market value in a vacuum for Thielen and disregard what losing him off our roster will do for us this year? A 5th round pick in 2026 is a negligible draft pick, especially with this season being so make or break for Bryce and Canales.
    • The Vikings acquiring all these late round picks has me feeling like we're about to see another CMC situation play out here. Trade a player we really like for the equivalent of what we want for them on the draft pick chart, but because of a bunch of late round picks instead of the one pick value we actually want. Which will do the same thing in the end, nothing, because 6th and 7th round picks rarely work out to begin with, or we're just going to use them to move up 10 picks in the 3rd or 4th round to take another DJ Johnson
