Ron Rivera or John Fox?

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Fox got canned in Denver and is probably getting canned in Chicago.  He just didn't evolve as the NFL passed him by.  Meanwhile, Rivera's squad is 5-0.  The strength of both is defense and Rivera is fielding a top defense while Chicago may have the worst defense in the league.

Who is the better coach at this point isn't even a debate.  It's Rivera all day long.

Fox failed to adapt to the NFL as it adapted around him. Ron finally showed the humility needed to save his job after the 13 Bufallo game.

I still remember Troy Aikman during the 09 resurgence at the end calling it "Fox's best coaching job".  If Jake hadn't of gotten hurt at the later part of the season, we would have never put in Moore and not won any games at the end.

Fox is mediocre at best.

Gantt specifically stated that he couldn't put Rivera in the higher tier with Lewis and Arians because he only has one playoff win.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Arians doesn't have a single playoff win as head coach...

Short term Fox (contrary to popular belief) has some ingenuity.

BUT

Rivera is soooo much more in tune with his players and staff.  I think Rivera is on the same career trajectory as a Bill Cower.

Fox can win you a game tomorrow, Rivera will build you a powerhouse from the inside out.

    • Does this mean only topics from within the last year or any topics with posts from the last year? i.e. if there are any old threads we feel should be kept around for whatever reasons, would a bump of that thread before the update ensure it's kept around in full or do the posts from more than a year old still disappear?
    • I'm more intrigued at him becoming our future LG. There were some people who thought he was better suited to be a guard in the NFL to begin with.  Then if Freeling ends up being a legit LT, moving Ickey to LG could give us an incredibly strong left side of our OL for years to come. Ickey has only played on the Left side his whole career, both in college and the NFL, so I just wonder if keeping him on the left side, even if shifting inside, would be better than putting him outside on the right side. Just hoping him growing up a Panthers fan will make him want to stay here and move positions than enter FA so he can stay at LT somewhere else, particularly since LT is the big money position on the OL, so he likely can get paid more by someone else to play LT than play LG or RT here for us.
