Since when did you gain the ability to challenge a play to review it for a penalty?

There was no challenge, good sir.

It was an auto replay from the booth since it was under 2:00 min. The penalty was not assessed on the play because it was ruled incomplete. Once that was overturned, the illegal touching for going out of bounds on your own was assessed. We just have bad WRs is all.

Ted Ginn gives them an INT and then Corey Brown fails to know where he is on the field of play.

I'm referring to Chip apparently bullying the refs into reviewing Corey Brown's incompletion for a penalty for stepping out of bounds and then being the first one to touch the ball.

In all the history of replay, that has never been allowed, nor have I ever seen an official add a penalty after reviewing a play.  I've even seen plays that involved a fumble in which a player was viciously "facemasked" and the call wasn't made during the live play, so the refs couldn't add the penalty on upon review either.

Tonight's refs have completely changed the game with their calls in favor of Philly.

My fault, forgot it was under two mins so it's initiated by the officials themselves...

But regardless, my point remains.  All they should've been reviewing was whether he stepped out or not and therefore whether it was a completion or not.   As far as I know, you cannot add on a penalty for an actual live ball play after review.

You are incorrect. You can do it for that penalty, and you can even challenge for 12 men on the field.

Well then my apologies...   As long as replay has been back, I've always heard that you could not be penalized after review if it wasn't called live.  I may have seen the twelve men call before, but that's a dead ball penalty.

c'mon man.

If you're referring to making the thread PP, I was being completely sincere in my question.  Despite feeling very confident and knowledgeable in my understanding of the rules and replay, I did not know how they were able to add a penalty after review,so if someone was able to clarify then awesome...
