So, National Media Has Adopted This Hilarious Argument In Defense Of Horseface McNeckbeard

Tuned into Mike and Mike, as i do enjoy the perspective from guys like Cris Carter, as he is a big Cam and Carolina guy, and occasionally the Mikes themselves when they're not guffawing and doing network fluff.

Anyway, they had Michael Irvin on and they discussed our game, with of course the main point being, "Whats wrong with Andy Luck?"  So, they go on to defend Luck and say how he is such a warrior and is fighting and pressing to carry the team to the win himself (which cam has been doing his entire career).  So, they then ask him a question, prefacing it with "we already discussed earlier the lack of help around him, so do you think that's it?"  Irvin agreed he didnt have enough around him...

Looooooooool...

Are you serious?  Have they seen what Cam is playing with outside of Olsen?  And Ginn, i love you man, but he essentially dropped two TD passes after already getting behind the defense last night, one of which would have won the game in OT.  Luck's problem wasn't his help, it was his inability to give them any.

I'm not raging like i used to, i just find it humorous the lengths they go to in order to make excuses for certain people.  Luck and Cam were playing in the same conditions last night, Cam's line was likely just as bad as Luck's due to injuries and with a far lesser supporting cast.  And now Luck threw picks straight into defender's chests because he didnt have enough help???  Lol.

Like i said yesterday in the game thread, if that was anyone but him, they would just say he sucks and needs to be replaced.  I've also started hearing the argument more and more from national media in defense of Luck that he's gotten hit too much so now it has ruined him, lol...  again, look at what Cam has played behind his entire career, and it hasn't ruined him.

As an aside, I'm not trashing Mike and Mike because they have actually given us a lot of positive press, both as a team and for Cam as an individual...  and not just them, i have found national media as a whole has started to come around on Cam, but that still doesnt stop a lot of them from bringing up the laptop deal...  i just thought it was an interesting narrative that national media is starting to create to protect their boy.  How about you just admit he sucks and Cam is better?  That's all...

Actually, this shows the difference in how you build a team.  The Panthers have been trying to build up the Oline, to marginal success until this year.  Now that Cam has some time, the running game more room, suddenly we're a much better team.  Now you look at what the Colts have done:  go after weapons at the expense of their oline and Dline (though their d played much better last night against us).

And these are the results.  When you have a franchise QB, you have to keep him upright, and keep other teams from running the ball effectively.  When you do that, you tend to be more successful in the NFL.  Luck has had the hype, and the talent, and he's had some success in the NFL.  But he's been the expected golden boy.  His HoF bust was in production when he stepped across the stage.  He can only go down from there.

It's a story of narratives, and that generates clicks and views, which pays the bills.

Cam at least has a defense around him. Luck doesn't have that. And as bad as Luck played through the rain storm, he was awesome in the fourth quarter.

I'm glad we have Cam, but this random hate toward Andrew Luck is overblown. He's a good quarterback for an AFC South team we shouldn't care about except for once every four years or more if we meet them in a Super Bowl.

Luck admitted post-game why he had success in the 4th quarter... he said the Carolina defense "loosened up".

And we sure as heck did, continually rushing only four and playing loose zones.  You know... the EXACT OPPOSITE of what we were having success with against Luck in quarters 1 through 3.

So yeah... congrats to Andrew Luck for hitting the wide open receivers we were giving him their toward the end of the game, something I'm sure their backup Hasselbeck could have done equally as well.

It was hard listening to Gruden say repeatedly that Luck is probably dealing with a rib injury during the first 3 quarters and that's not the Luck he is use to seeing instead of giving props to our Defense, but when he was lighting us up in the 4th by passing and running the ball his injury miraculously went away.
