New York bans Fanduel and Draftkings

This is actually kind of sad. It is a reflection of what this country has become, with regulators controlling how you live your lives. You do not know what is good for you, only the government does. Too much government!

Why is gambling even an issue to begin with? Why does it matter to anyone else how someone spends their money? Because of the possibility of addiction? You mean like nicotine, alcohol, sex, food, caffeine, attention, social relevancy, socioeconomic status, or any combination of those "My Strange Addictions" .... addictions?

Yes, there is an element of luck with Daily Fantasy, but I assure you it is no more about luck than the stock market. It is a combination of both luck and skill. If you're lazy and don't research, the outcome would all but assure you'll lose. Just as what would happen if you didn't research a stock.  Except in my opinion the risk of losing it all due to manipulation and corruption is far greater on wall street.

By the way, Banning Daily Fantasy outright will greatly impact professional sports. Before I started playing fantasy sports, I only cared about watching Carolina play. That pretty much summed up my Sunday. Now, I am in tune with every game and it is the reason I pay extra for stuff like the Redzone or certain publications. I am sure I am not the only one either for who this scenario applies.

BTW, Attached is the results of one of my leagues on DraftKings. This was against 4400 people and it cost me $2.

100% agree, a grown adult should be able to spend their own money however they want. The last thing America needs is to be making more things illegal. We have more laws than anywhere in the world and the highest prison population. "Land of the free" LOL right

Figure out what exactly? You want to break down the math on how DFS is equivilent to a lottery ticket? (I'm gonna guess no on that)

A better comparison really is the Stock Market vice the lottery. My guess is he has no real idea how DFS works, which is fine. But he should know about it if he were going to speak to it's legitimacy; otherwise it just sounds like he is just throwing darts.

Or, have the states run DFS like they do the lottery. Force FanDuel and DraftKings to shut down and make it where in NYC, only NY can run a DFS organization. Problem solved.

Government already has their hands in too much.., that is a horrible idea. Taxing it makes sense, but only if they tax all online transactions the same. A "Sin" to you, may be defined completely different to me. I don't think spending my money as I see fit is a sin.

As a avid user of Fanduel, this is absurd. I can assure you that I am a regular every day person with a wife, kids, full time 9:00-5:00 job and a mortgage with absloutley no inside information whatsoever on anything and I win consistently..

If you are smart and treat this as slow, methodical business using numbers and analytics you CAN consistently win money. The people that complain of losing are the ones that put down $1.00 with a top prize of $5000 with a pool of 45000 othe people and actually get mad when they don't win.. Morons.

The key is play 50/50 leagues, the prizes are smaller but you significantly increase your chances of winning. You will NOT get rich or hit it big overnight

smart dude , 50/50s and double ups 3 player leagues and head to heads can make you money legit last year i made 20k from draftkings im pissed that i live in ny and the AG thats a sociopath is banning it

    • He can’t even learn to run routes. No chance in hell he can do both that and pick up blocking schemes
    • Well he had essentially a 70% completion rate for almost three thousand yards.  Biggest issues were awkward and inconsistent release.  I wouldn't call arm strength bad, but not great.
    • I see him being better and most of that is a few downfield passes that were seemingly non existent.    But it is what is around him that has dictated the trajectory more than the quarterbacking. He is game manager level and unable to dictate to defenses.  And even if I am wrong and he is the reason we ‘upwarded’, we are bumping our heads on the ceiling and only making meager gains. If it is an incline it is awfully shallow degree wise. Like a finance graph that tracks your progress and hovers around the rate of inflation. Barely breaking even.  Is that where you want your money?  We make up these deadlines expectations and generally he does the minimum of what he needs to do to hang around.    It does not encourage me to believe that when we get into a game against a good run d that we cannot break down with our run game, to believe that we can pivot to the air and successfully counter their strategy.  But they run it back again. Of course I am gunshy of a repeat of the same thing we have watched for three years.    oh, and yes his durability is his most impressive positive for my money. I fear the other shoe dropping on that and the contractual consequences that will follow.   Last  of all, too late to edit my mistake here but would like to acknowledge it: the last three years has done very little to convince me that I was not wrong in not wanting him. One too many “not”s.
