she was at Ron's press conference on Wed and she asked Ron a question about Luke and TD.

It's funny, usually Ron would give a brief answer since asking questions about TD and Luke have become pretty redundant, but b/c it was a reporter from Japan, he gave a much more elaborate in depth response! LOL.

Do you think she has pink flops?

As exciting as this may seem there is no fandom in Japan... not just for the Panthers but the NFL in general.

Maybe they can grow it but as of right now they just don't care.

I would think there is some fandom even if it's small otherwise why have a reporter from Japan? I know of one manga author who devoted an entire book to American Football so it's not coming from nowhere.

37 Million people live in metro Tokyo. Yes some like football... most of those are Gaijin. What I'm telling you is the percentage is so small they don't sell merchandise, they don't show then on TV etc.

All the joking in this thread aside, I would actually like to know about NFL fan support in Japan. I already know some about European fans but like how do fans watch in Japan. Is there an avid bar where they congregate?

It was a Monday night, not a Super Sunday, but an estimated 100 people had assembled for a viewing party for Super Bowl XLIX between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks on massive screens at a public viewing event in Tokyo.

There was a time when the NFL was closer to fans like these. In past years, they could have actually gone to an NFL game in Japan.

Ok, they could have the greatest football name: http://gangsters-web.com/

NFL tried in the mid-'90s to drum up support in Japan. Held a pre-season game there with the Broncos that's famous for Terrell Davis' drilling a kickoff returner. He wasn't impressing anyone in training camp up to that point and actually wanted to fly back to the States before the game, but couldn't find anyone that spoke English to book him a flight out, so he was stuck there and ended up playing the game anyway. And if he hadn't made that big hit, the coaches admitted they probably would have cut him when they got back to the States.

Strange but true.

Edit: added the only video I could find of it that shows Japanese letters on the stadium wall.

I thought it was a long shot we'd have someone who could do that.  Kudos.

Curious: What did she say on the video clip she posted from inside BOA?

This time we're here at the Panthers' stadium. It's huge, and amazing, right? We're talking to two members of the defense.

(I think that's right. My spoken Japanese isn't great.)

Did you learn it because you got tired of the manga raws taking so long to be translated like I did?
