Packers...

The call absolutely was a bad call.  However, at full speed during the play it absolutely looked like a facemask....and thus why it was called.  The refs do not get the benefit of slow motion instant replay on penalties.

If it looked like a penalty, then imo it wasn't a bad call.  I do believe that perhaps penalties should be reviewable, although I fear that might slow the game down to much.

Packers will lose, Rodgers is terrible playing from behind.

I've yet to see him compete a pass thrown beyond 5 Yd of the LOS.

He's a dink & dunk QB like Brady. And he's a stat padder who is more worried about his stat line than anything. He won't throw downfield unless his guy is wide open. He'll eat a 10 Yd sack every time over throwing into a tight window.

shut up with refs trash...if up to you each and every play would be reviewed and games would last five hours...Detroit lost game...period...quit blaming every loss on referees

listen to what Jimmy Johnson said other day on Cowherd- he said refs are gonna make calls...and a TEAM SHOULD NEVER BLAME REFS FOR A LOSS...don't put yourself in a position to lose because of a penalty in the first place...he said that why he ran up the score as often as he could lol....

and btw that was a correct call anyway...poor technique by Lions defender to reach out and grab around face...wrap up...don't grab...

Poor reading comp there rookie.  My statement wasn't even directed at the refs, but actually if reviewing calls that can lead to first downs were reviewed it could help them out.  It wasn't the correct call, btw.

your constant keeping score of number of posts which is sure sign your have no life whatsoever...and you are just type of anal individual to whine and complain at each and every call ...in real time that was correct call...and it shouldn't have mattered anyway Detroit didnt defend properly...they deserve to lose...

people who blame referees for losses are the lowest form of man there is...and each and every time you start with your whining about referees im gonna call you out...idk how many posts you or I have here

"people who blame referees for losses are the lowest form of man there is"

Bet some folks in San Bernardino would disagree with you today!

Perspective dude; find some.

And I'll call you out as a bandwagon fan that just showed up on the forums, just because it annoys you.  You are just the hype of individual to live with your head in the sand not realizing what is going on around you.

I didn't even whine about this call, why would I, these aren't even my teams.   In real time it's still wrong, but I agree much harder to get right, HENCE the reason that calls like that should be reviewed.  I don't understand how anyone wouldn't see the point of that (until now of course).

I think penalties that reward a first down should be instant reviewed by the booth honestly.

Not sure that they should be reviewed instantly but they should be reviewable like other plays.

Coaches get their 2 challenges per game still and nothing really changes. The only plays I can really see it being used is personal fouls and pass interference, maybe a holding call if it's a drive killer. Refs are human, barely, and can make mistakes. Those mistakes shouldn't cost a team the game, or in the playoffs, their season.

By bad call, I mean that it in fact was not a penalty.  I am not faulting the ref on this one.  Just sucks for the Lions to be jobbed out of a second game this season by a badly blown call....remember the Seattle game and the player punching the ball out of the endzone.

If the refs get both of those right, Detroit is 6-6 and sitting in the #6 playoff spot right now.

Detroit had the opportunity to run out the clock, Detroit lost that game. Not the refs.

Jim Caldwell was an idiot for thinking lateral play instead of Hail Mary........that's why the Lions are the Lions though

Yep.....buddy of mine grew up in Detroit and is a life long Lions fan.  I texted him at halftime saying great game so far.  He texted back saying just wait....Lions will find a way to lose.  That is what they do.

And damned if he wasn't right.

I told my wife the same thing last night before she went to bed.  She ask if the Lions and I said no. She pauses and just laughs nonstop.  Lions are just an embarrassment because they were the better team last night.  Caldwell sucks at in game decisions.

They expect to lose....and they constantly find new ways to do it.  Gotta give them credit for that.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
