Good news for the Panthers and their attempt to re-sign JNo in the offseason

He turned down an offer of 7 million a year because he thought he was better and deserved more. He's gone out and proved beyond a shadow of a doubt he is the best CB in the league. He deserves to make top amount. None of this "tag and prove it one more time nonsense" and definitely none of this "tag him then release him" that poo is garbage. We are talking about home grown Carolina talent and you guys are already shipping him off. That's sad. We have the money to sign him long term

At Josh's age it's more benafits the panthers more to tag him once or twice seeing as it would be less than he could get on the market....

I'd disagree. To franchise tag a CB the 1st time, is around 13 million. If we gave him a really nice signing bonus to off set his cap hit and pay him 8-11 million a year, I think he'd take it...

As much as a love his level of play, I don't see it happening year after year. When he turned down the offer the past offseason, it tells me his heart is in the money and not on the team. That's two strikes against him IMO.

I hope gettlemagic can do his thing, but I wouldn't break the bank for him. I'd rather let him go than put the panthers in a position where they cant get good help in a pinch.

He has stated he wants to be paid as the nfls # 1 corner we tag him in we save money...

And now you've just created a situation were you've alienated and disrespected a guy who went out in a contract year and proved he was the best CB in the NFL. That leads to hold outs and other drama you don't have to deal with by giving him the contract he deserves. Which the Panthers will be able to handle. You can save the same amount of money by working it into the contract. Tagging causes unneeded bad blood to a home town guy who has done nothing but play his heart out for us.

Yada yada yada you do what's best for the team and given what's happened his age is the factor here it benafits the team most to tag him twice and then let him walk... You don't pay big bucks to a corner after 30 it's a business...

You are ignorant and it shows.

He's like three seasons away from being 30 and you are calling me ignorant? He was drafted in the same class as Luke. Was Luke too old for his contract?

Good thing you don't run the team

Not sure where this figure came from, but this is not even close to what he will demand on the market if he finished the season shutting every top receiver down that the Panthers face, earning defensive MVP, going 16-0 in the regular season, and hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.

If he can say without a doubt he is the best CB in the NFL, he will demand $73.5 million over 5 years with $41.0 million guaranteed. That is an average of $14.7 million per season.

The franchise tag would give him $13.2 million. That could allow the Panthers to deal him down to $14.2 million per season.

He will be expensive, but he is 2.5 years younger than the 2nd best CB in the NFL - Darrelle Revis.

Bye Norman, I just don't see him getting that much.

He turns 28 in 9 days clown... He was 23 when he was drafted.... Btw Luke doesn't turn 25 until April 20 for comparison.

He won't be 30 until the end of the 2019 season.

Hes still in his prime. You look dumb trying personal attacks for no reason during a contract discussion. Take that elsewhere. If you want to have a normal discussion without getting your feelings hurt I'll be here. Until then maybe you need to do some growing up.
