We've discussed this before," the Panthers coach said. "I went through and answered all your questions yesterday. I gave you all your information. In fact, I understood you called the league to make sure we do what we're supposed to.

"We follow the rules here. Don't question my integrity when it comes to these things. Understand that. I try to be as forthright as I can when I answer your questions and when I'm doing that, the least I could do is get the common courtesy that I'm being believed. I take it very seriously."

Rivera continued: "And it is not up to me to make those decisions and these calls. It's up to the doctors. Just so you understand that. I'm being very very upfront with this and very forward because it does bother me. I'm not the doctor. I'm not the one who makes these decisions. We have a protocol. We follow the protocol. We've had players stay out for, what, three, four weeks and at no point did we force that young man or onto the field because we believed him. So please, do not question me on this."

Way to go Ron!!!!!  Love his response...want to see the video.

Has to be about the dumbest I have heard in a while.  He needs to be reassigned.  He has burned his Panther bridge while standing on it.  I bet his hair gel exploded.

Voth thought the questions were acceptable

i do. RT @Lawson_LTN: @BlackBlueReview Well, they were perfectly acceptable questions, don't you think?

It wasn't that they were unacceptable, it was that he had answered everything yesterday and didn't want to go through it all again.

They were perfectly acceptable when it was an issue, by asking about it again you're not just repeating the question (and being fuging annoying) but you trying to take any validity out of the answer that he gave previously.  He was trying to pry more information out of Rivera and big boss wasn't having it.

I fuging love Ron.  That is straight MAN style right there.  He is the type of person I strive to be everyday.  Be personable and treat everyone you meet with respect, but if someone crosses or tries to use you then bring wrath down upon them.

    • I wouldn't say I was "relying on current AI" for information. I input a question to see how it would respond out of curiosity. I wouldn't even say that I'm an analytics guy, especially in the terms of the draft. I believe the game film ultimately tells the story. But, even back in the 1960s the Cowboys revolutionized the NFL draft process by using a computer to help them pick (or not pick) players No one would deny that 2 of our weakest spots on defense are S and LB. I was curious to see what an AI program would pick as the optimal time to pick these spots. They seem to have narrowed in on Day 1 and Day 2, which is the exact opposite of what the Panthers have done in recent years. We haven't made an effort to use our higher choices on these spots this decade and both positions are weaknesses for our defense. The position of Center has always fascinated me. Take a  look at most of the dynasties in NFL history, or even a one and done super bowl winner. I guarantee you over 80% have a stud manning the center position. This guy is usually going to be among the top 5 players at his position at any given time and often a multiple Pro Bowler.
    • Tom Brady was on the injury report basically every game of his career.   I also think there is some wiggle room.   I think the Panthers have a very broad "high ankle sprain" definition.  With both of Bryce's high ankle sprains he has been up on his foot 24/7 from the moment it was announced.   High ankle sprains used to take players off their feet and you would be out weeks.  With Bryce, it's hard to tell there is anything there.
    • We pretty much spent a fortune on the OL to buy time in the pocket, which okay right now they are out. But normally we should not be incapable of protecting long enough for a guy to take a drop and step up and send the ball down the field. We aren’t talking about Hail Mary stuff here. Just deeper than red zone depth.  Right now we don’t have the guy for that. Ours is slow to get back and when he does he needs time to turn his hips and get his feet set before he steps into the throw. or he has to bail out and concede one side of the field so he can get a run up to launch the ball down the half he left himself to work with. Seems like that  is where most of the issue is with having that in the playbook.  And trends. One thing thing about football trends is going too far with that leaves you open to be exploited somewhere else. As we always see eventually. Someone bucks the trend and it works. Now you have a new trend.
