just curious to see how many people have decided that this season is a lost cause.

if you don't mind also say what you think the record is going to be at the end of the year.

if you believe the team still has a chance, this thread isn't for you.

it's just for those who have given up.

im ok with 15 and 1. Still sporting my panthers gear tonight and supporting my qb. Not really sure about the purpose of this thread cause it sounds like you have given up. But hey it's whatever, on to atlanta. One at a time.

*raises hand* It's not just because of one game. This is a trend extending back to last season. Before Sunday, I thought this team would do well to get above .500. I would actually have been very okay with it given the schedule we're facing this year. Now.... I think this team has been set back by years. We've mortgaged our future for players that just aren't going to get us there.

Looking at the past 14 games (including pre-season), the trend has been one of a team losing its edge and going soft and.... worst of all.... not seeming to care or show a sense of urgency to correct it. This Sunday played like a scene of patterned abuse. Regardless of all my hope, it happened anyway. I am now numb to it because it feels like this team gave up before it even got out of the gate.

Same excuses. Same coachspeak. Same results. The team I saw Sunday will be doing well to win 4 games this year. As a fan, I am tired of getting my hopes up for a franchise that no longer seems to care about its fanbase. As a fan, I want to be proud of my team, win or lose. The team that went 7-9 with so many people going down with injuries was a team I could get behind. The team that showed that grit and determination of the Super Bowl year was a team that was amazing to support (especially for those of us that endured the preceding years for so long). The team that was always laying it on the line week in and week out was a team I could put my heart into.

These guys.... they got paid and seem to be happy with that.

I think we're probably headed for 8-8 or worse, but I'm holding out hope that we'll be surprised. I mean, I don't think many of us expected last year.

Football's a weird game, and there's definitely the talent on the team to win 10 games and sneak into a Wild Card. Or win the NFC South, which I'm not sold on -- 10 wins might be enough if Atlanta disappoints.

To early to give up on this season, but if Jake continues to play poorly and gets benched then I'll be looking forward to next year...

Our record with Feeley or Moore under center: 4-12

The silver lining in going 4-12 is that I think Fox would be fired. I'm not a John Fox hater, I just think we need a change at HC.

^this.

And the sentence regarding Fox goes for Jake too.

The biggest positive from the first round was the game #90 put in.

He almost earned his pay check this week.

It depends on what you mean by giving up. I have givin up hope that we will win a superbowl this year. Your qb does not have a performance like he did against Arizona, get 8 months off and have an even worse game in the season opener if you are a superbowl team.

I think the team was so unprepared for the philly game it is laughable. It seems like we plan out the first drive so carefully, and then just say we will do whatever comes to mind after that. Philly was blitzing like crazy, and we kept sending out 3 wide like Jake was just gonna rip them apart. Why did we not send in a max protection in and run in down their throats, or dink and dunk for first downs?

I do believe the season is not a lost cause and we could still have a winning season, but I just can't imagine us winning the superbowl. With a qb that is having a hard time just not turning the ball over, and a HC that brings a team as talented as ours into any game so unprepared, let alone one that he had 8 months to prepare for, I think a SB is unrealistic. However, I think we do have enough talent to have a winning season if Jake or someone else does a better job of protecting the ball.
