What makes the Huddle so special?

Every NFL team has a message board. Not all fan bases have a Huddle. Not all fan bases have a Riot. Not all online communites have a true community.

I met @uncfan888for the first time this year down in JAX at the Riot tailgate for maybe 5-10 minutes. We discussed the camera on my head and how excited we were for this season because it felt special. Not just special because of the product we had on the field but because what has been built off of the field. This was my first Riot experience and man was it awesome. We each went our separate ways and cheered on our team at the game.

Since then we've pied each other a couple times, a couple quotes there, some game day menu pics there. It may seem like a normal message board to most people but between us there was an unspoken bond. We weren't just a couple of idiots posting on a message board about our team. We were brothers in black and blue. When I found out I couldn't fly down to make the NFC championship game I was devastated. The blizzard fuged my flight and I was mad as all hell that I would miss this experience. @uncfan888 offered to help out in a way that might seem trivial to most. He stood through that entire game fighting sobriety and the pure ecstasy of watching your team whoop ass on a national stage and made sure that my rally bandana and game day program stayed untainted and immaculate. My prayer was answered and Trey mailed me a package that I will never forget.

Although I didn't get a chance to make the game I'll always remember the thoughtfulness and friendship of @uncfan888 once this magical season has come and gone. Black and Blue brothers for life.

I was standing in ice water the entire game like everyone else in the stadium, so if I set the program down, it definitely would have gotten ruined. Now @Dex has a garment fine enough to be buried in

I had my program crammed into my back pocket and it dropped to the ground and was done for.  I spent the entire time exiting looking for a clean program.  None in sight.  As I was literally walking out of the stadium beyond the no re-entry point, I saw a lone program on a chair in perfect condition.  Like it was there for me.

    • Absolutely. He just turned 27 a few days ago, so quite young. He and Moehrig would be quite the pairing.  I know we say this every year, but this FA period has A LOT of talent that will be switching uniforms. We were aggressive last year and have no doubt this time next week will have some studs on defense.
    • DJ Moore has always been a bit of an enigma. He came here young, flashed a ton of potential, but never truly grew into a real #1. He’s had a few good reasons, but yet to have a real monster season (outside of his first year with Chicago) We’re still waiting for him to blossom, but he will be 29 next season. I fear that it is too late for him at this point.
    • I have considered free agency.  LT?  Either not good enough or too expensive.  Besides, this is a good OT draft.  (I would rather have a free agent, mind you, but the Panthers' reality suggests we can't do it without neglecting other positions).  What LTs are available in free agency, and what do you expect to pay?  Any Ickey-level OT is going to cost over $20m.   How much do we already have invested in our OL?  I get your point, but I do not think you can spend over $100m per on your OL. We have 2 guards and a right T who pull in about $75m per season.  We don't have a center yet.  Teams just don't let good LTs hit free agency, and when one does on rare occasion, he is expensive.  If you want a third of the Panther cap going to 5 Offensive Linemen, free agency is the way to go.  We still need S, ILB, Edge, WR, etc. I think we'd need more than Nijman--and I would understand if we went free agent for a T--but that is putting a TON of your cap at OL--so considering our situation, I do not see that option as preferable.  You may disagree. If I was not talking LT on our line and thinking about the cap, I would agree 100%.
