Panthers Pride Rally

I was there. I think our lack of experience on these things showed a little bit. People were chomping at the bit to see people they cared about and weren't really into it for much of the rally because the players didn't come out until the last 15 minutes. Having the mayor, city council, county commissioners and governor brought the tone down a bit because of the recent toll lane votes that have occurred (heard several people around me make comments).  They all got booed (with the governor getting the most boos). Also, Jennifer Roberts should never, ever, ever lead a chant ever again.

There were also a bunch of bandwagoners there. One lady beside me had no clue who the Top Cats were and I heard MANY people around me say "Who?" when Simonson was introduced.

I had fun though and it was awesome to get to see our players and Coach Rivera in person and (somewhat) up close. Would do again.

Yeah, this thing was pretty amateur. I'm actually kind of relieved that the Panthers are putting more focus on preparing for the game rather than putting on an awesome rally. It was fun to see the players and hear Rivera speak, but other than that most of it felt like a crumby commercial. Jennifer Roberts was awful. She's definitely got a socially awkward penguin vibe going on. I would have loved to have seen Braylon Beam say something, or Dabbin' Granny, etc. If we win the Superb Owl, hopefully they'll step their game up for the victory parade.

Also, when you get the crowd hyped up with Keep Pounding chants and rap music with a great baseline, don't be a douche chill and follow it up with some silly Panthers country song. This rally had its good moments, but they couldn't seem to sustain them.

Yeah, that was a jarring transition in the music.

To be fair, there's a good chance *I* wouldn't know who Scott Simonson was if Madden didn't automatically sub him into the lineup way too often when I play as the Panthers. And I've never heard of Nate Askew in my life until today.

Ha, fair enough. TBH, I'd never heard of Nate Askew either, but Simonson has seen some play this year at least. It just struck me after I'd heard the lady beside me say "Now, do we have cheerleaders? What? They're called the Top.....What? Cats?"

Who?

just kidding...still, 1 career reception for 10 yards does not a fan favorite make.

Rally was pretty lame.  Lots of folks showed up so that was cool, but to bring out someone like Simonson was pretty lame lol.   We had like 4 probowlers out there but with no Luke or Cam it was pretty disappointing.  Props to the guys who did show up.   But 5 minutes of Panther players and WAY too many minutes for the mayor and lame Pat (lol @ the boos) dragged it down.   The Bank of America goon was lame as well but I guess that's how it works.   At least he had some personality.   I think we should have had this on a Saturday inside the stadium, to be honest, so more people could see what is going on.

For the 2013 one, I was right behind Flair as he stood waiting to go up.  He was a tool.  We were trying to get him to talk to us, we were like 4 feet back but he wouldn't.  He told someone to get him some coffee and ignored us.  Some redneck was behind me doing the "wooooooo" and four horsemen sign the whole time lol.

We got there at noon and it was lame like you described until the last 15 minutes.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
