Not since Broadway Joe....

It was 1968 and the Jets where on the way to the Superbowl led by a very polarizing QB named Joe Namath. He wore outrageous outfits, had beautiful woman draped all over him and was very outspoken. He was all over tv and on every magazine cover, of course there was no internet. The few that are my age will remember well.

Many people hated him, some saw him as a terrible role model while others loved him for it. I can only imagine what it would have been like if social media or cell phones where around.

The point I am making is that all this fuss about Cam is nothing new. I am happy that Cam insists on being who he is and not let the outside noise change him. Joe Willie followed his own path and they won the Superbowl. Cam may very well do the same forty eight years later.

Let's hope it's not just 1 SB win and panty hose and kissing sideline reporters.

Cam is a much better QB then Namath. If all goes well, this may be the first of many SB appearances for him. The hoopla around his personality and persona reminds me of the same circus around Namath back in the day.

qualify this plz

As in people always talking about how Cam should follow the examples of quarterbacks in the past.  Point being McMahon was a terrible role model and if Cam acted like McMahon people would be calling for Cams head.

    • I wonder if they'd consider trading Rasheed Walker to a team that needs tackle help but missed out in the draft?
    • LOL. This is such a Panthers fan take.  Anyone who falls to us must suck because some other team didn't take them before.  We got lucky with Lemon, Thieneman, and Freeling all falling to us (honestly any of the three is a A+) but the WR and S positions are much deeper than the LT position in this draft.  We got the LT w/ the most upside at 19.  Mauigoa played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the nfl.  Spano played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the NFL due to short arms.  Blake Miller played RT in college and is not as good as Freeling.  Proctor is a true LT but his ability to handle quick edge's worries me (see Icky).  Freeling is a true LT and a gifted pass protector.  Many think he has a very high ceiling and will benefit from not having to start right away.  This is how you build a franchise.
    • After watching Cam get killed for years behind a bad Oline and having to watch the 2021 and 2023 Olines I will never complain about this team putting resources into that spot.  We got a true LT who could really push Rasheed Walker for the day 1 job. Go back and watch Iceky's draft profile from 2022 and all the talk was Ickey would be an all-pro guard in a zone blocking scheme, but he could play LT in a gap power run scheme. That's why Ickey looked really good when Wilks took over and we just started running gap run plays and just mauled people up front but under Canales we've been more of a zone running team. Ickey can survive at LT with his pass blocking but his true strength will always be his ability to just move guys in the run game and that's a skill set that's better used at guard.  Take another OT later on day 3 to learn from Moton to take over RT in a couple of years and let Walker and Freeling battle it out for the day 1 LT job then next offseason trade one of Hunt of Lewis and let Ickey move inside to guard.
