Worked as a special teams assistant with the Giants back when Gettleman was there. Coached the 49ers special teams last year.

Maybe if you meld that with a HC who wants to use a veteran guy, just because he's in his 43rd year, it will work out perfectly.

Not a Gettleman hire.

Rivera controls the coaching staff.  Gettleman has made clear he'll only make suggestions.

Looks like they were Average? Nothing Stellar.. he was only at Niners one Season.. ST was ranked 27, Panthers was 30.

Giants went to the Super Bowl his first year there (2007).

Special teams rank that year?  Don't know.

It's actually pretty common, especially for assistants.

Don't really think the success of his past teams has any indication for what our ST will be next year. He's an assistant, not running the show. We aren't hiring an assistant whose STs have been top 5 everywhere he's gone because that person isn't applying to be an assistant. Let the guy grow.
