Kyle Love talks continue

Oh good.I was worried the Soilai signing meant we had decided to move on from him due to him wanting too much money or something. Even though that is certainly the reason he hasn't re-signed here yet at least we are keeping open a dialogue.

This guy single handedly allowed us to rest Star when he was injured and not rush him back until he was 100%. Although there was a drop-off, I don't think it was anywhere near as much as many of us expected when we heard Star was out for a few weeks. He deserves to come back and be a part of the rotation. His ability to be a wall in our defense allows Short and CJ to do wthat they do best.

Damn, I forgot Love was 29.  Would like to see him back, but a rookie DT to groom (and be an insurance policy) would be nice as well.

Would like to see Gman take a DE in the first couple rounds then a DT later on as an insurance for Star since there is a chance we may not be able to keep him and KK short on long term deals.

I haven't had time to look, but didn't Soilai have some injury issues?  Could be another reason to continue talks with Love.

Gettleman says Panthers are still talking with free agent DT Kyle Love.

The Panthers continue to talk to veteran defensive tackle Kyle Love about bringing him back.

Would love to have Love back in the rotation.

A little reserve this time on the announcement Leroy ;)

If we sign Love, that will A) solidify our DT position, B) help narrow the draft field and help with prioritization.  If signed, this will probably signal DG's view of the DTs in the draft.  Either the value will not be there by the time our name is called and DG will not reach or like in the past, DG thinks the value of what we signed is greater than the value of what is in the draft or future potential.

Has only missed 4 games total in the last 6 years, but I believe he went down in the week 16 game against the Panthers and didn't return last year so you might be thinking of that. It was related to something he was dinged up with at the end of last season, but I really don't remember what though I want to say a muscle strain(hammy or quad). I think they then shut him down for week 17 with nothing to play for.

Oh, okay.  I was mistaken then.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
