Best Way To Sell An Old Used Car?

I have a 2000 Honda Accord. 140k Miles is pretty low for the year. The interior is in bad condition, speakers shot, paint wearing off the exterior. Issues with the suspension. Really the only thing it has going for it is the engine and the fact its a very popular model/make/year.

I need to sell it. I'm wondering what the quickest way to get fair value would be. Junk yard? Sell to a dealer? Obviously everyone says craigs list but my experience with craigs list is you get spammed with scammers and people looking for you to take well below market value. I'm not dead set on getting top dollar. Just a reasonable offer with as little headache as possible.

The only way you get 'market value' is to sell it yourself - everything else will yield less since the buyers in those scenarios will be looking to make money based on ultimately selling it for the same market value that you're after. Have you ever sold a car on CL? Even if someone lowballs you, it's likely worth your time to deal with a new of those and end up selling for the full value.

If you just want rid of it, you can try a CarMax purchase offer (assuming you have one nearby). Just roll up and see what they'll pay you.

Lol

good luck getting "fair value" for any car you own

my car's two years old, has 15k miles, and the trade in value is 5k lower than the loan because all these dealers do is lowball you

edit: also i'd rather have pins driven through my feet and a bullhorn slowly shoved up my ass than negotiate with people on craigslist

Carmax will low ball the heck out of ya.

Pop a sign in the window and see how much traffic you get or find a mom and pop place that sells only Hondas etc.

Now if you just want to sell it and be done with it. Carmax is very simple.

Bingo.

Find someone in a high traffic area around town that you can pay $100 to once it sells and park it there with a $2 sign in the dash.

Clean it up as good as you can, and someone will buy it, if for nothing else than the low mileage.

Gotta ask, why is a car with only 140k on it in this bad of shape?

    • I'm happy with TMac, but Tyler Warren was last season's Tyler Linderbaum for me in that he was at a position that wasn't one of the five pillars but he was the best player at his position AND one of the top talents in the draft. I cannot fuging wait for the Panthers to start winning again so that those guys fall to us like they seem to for teams like Baltimore & Philadelphia.
    • Still working on consuming all of these so I don't have summaries available, but I figured there might be another Huddler or three trying to kill time before tonight's final preseason game.   Panthers Blueprint: Training Camp The in-house produced Blueprint series has given behind-the-scenes look on the field and off. Start the day with Robert Hunt's family, be in the morning meetings, mic'd up players during practice (Jaycee, Rozeboom, Icky, and Bryce), roster evaluations by the staff, and plenty of camp highlights capping off with FanFest.   Processing Blue (Mike Kaye & Alex Zietlow Mike and Alex are back talking about a variety of topics including but not limited to: joint practice + preseason game vs. Houston, Trey Hendrickson trade rumors involving Carolina, training camp awards, draft pick draft, and various thoughts about the team.   Jordan & Jake 706: Opening Day Another in-house Panthers' production, the most recent episode of Jordan and Jake talk about how to properly balance intensity in practice, react to the starters being shutdown for the preseason finale, share their thoughts on the newest Panther QB, and more.   Raw Room - Ep 278 - Gas Pedal (ft. Mike Davis) Assistant special teams' coach Darren Bates' Raw Room podcast has former Panthers' RB Mike Davis on his weekly podcast. I'm about halfway through this one and it's been a lot of fun. The Raw Room guys (DB, his friend Alex Sweets, former Eagles/Chargers OT King Dunlap, and former Atlanta DB Jalen Collins) are hilarious and Mike fits right in. They talk about his football experience coming up, decommitting from Florida and how he decided on South Carolina, and more. Warning: If you're the type of person that is easily distracted by accents, despite XL being on the team, you might have issues with understanding the Memphis dialect. If you don't care about how somebody talks, just what they're talking about, tune in!
    • Allen was borderline unplayable in College.  He's an absolute unicorn in terms of his career panning out the way it has.
