Jets trade for Ryan Clady

ets acquired LT Ryan Clady and a seventh-round pick from the Broncos for a fifth-round pick.

Clady had been on the trade block since the Broncos signed Russell Okung at the start of free agency. He'll take over at left tackle for the Jets after D'Brickashaw Ferguson's retirement. Clady agreed to restructure his $9.5 million salary as part of the deal. He hasn't played a game since 2014 due to ACL surgery, but gives the Jets a proven starter if he can stay healthy. The move also clears Denver's cap space for a potential Colin Kaepernick trade.

That was easy. I remember when Clady and Otah were in the same draft and all the potential both of them had.

At first, when Otah was healthy, he made a huge difference.

I know everyone kills Hurney for that pick(mostly the trade part of it) but Otah was awesome his rookie year. If it weren't for injuries and his laziness we would have had the best tackle tandem in the NFL for half a decade. He was a huge part of our dominant run game in 2008.

Absolutely 100%. Rookie year he just looked bigger than anyone else on the field, was bulldozing, and that run game was wide open. It's kinda a sad story, what could have been.

Thinking is that hard? He was hurt in 2013 he had lisfrac surgery.... He was a pro bowler in 2014.

So I mixed up that he missed 2013 instead of 2014. Whatever. Congrats about being a douche about it though.

Agreed. Otah was a beast early on. Then he got lazy and fat. Not Hurney's fault. Hurney did enough to tarnish his time in Carolina but, Otah was not something that I think is fair to give him poo about.

    • Damn I liked A'Shawn too. This is basically a heads up we're planning on cutting you move.  Robinson wasn't the best but I loved his attitude and effort on the field. He held that entire dline together when Brown went down iirc..granted we finished that season as the worst rushing defense in modern NFL history.  If Wharton would have performed up to atleast half of his salary last season, I'd feel a little better about it. We do need that cap space though.
    • 13. Carolina is coming. The Panthers are well thought of around the league. Their "process" seems sound. I think their off-season will be very interesting to keep an eye on. They made the playoffs, but they're not yet knocking on the door. (Offense was 26th in EPA/play.) I think it's imperative they don't overestimate where they are in their build. They can't throw a ton of money around in FA to "make a run now". They need to be intentional about building a solid foundation. (IMO) And from what I know about the team... I think they will be. Sidenote: I have my eye on offense there, not defense. They HAVE to leave next season with a strong opinion on Bryce Young. They need to put pieces around him to do that. Can't be left wondering what he would have looked like with "better OL play" or "more pass catchers". They have to know. (That part is purely my opinion. No one told me that.) https://x.com/lindsay_rhodes/status/2027212533417869499?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA
    • Because this DL is completely reliant on Brown being available and being a stud. Without him we were the worst D in history. The Wharton signing last year reeked of desperation. He just isn't a great fit for us schematically and I think we panicked a little bit when we missed out on Milton Williams who would have been a great fit.
