I think Gman values 3 positions higher than any other

QB, DT, and DE, these positions will get favor over all the rest if there is anything close to a tie.  We have QB covered, DT covered temporarily, so DE is the closest thing to a need in our core positions of importance.

If one of the 3 DE's (Lawson, Dodd, Ogbah) are there, they should be the pick.  As far as DT's, Butler or Rankins, would be my pick since we don't have either of our guys locked up for very long.

Outside of the core positions if none are available, I would only want William Jackson III as a first rounder as a CB and maybe a WR from the top 4 WR's.

No OT, G, C TE, S or LB is gonna be worth the pick at 30.  I mean if LB Lee drops, who knows, but I am speaking of the guys who will be available.

So, in order

3 DE's

Butler/Rankins

William Jackson III

One of the 4 WR's

One of those 10 players should be our pick at 30.

Now, you can still watch the draft even though I have taken out most of the drama :)

Order of importance.

DE- because hey we need more pass rushing.

RB- no way Stewart stays healthy all year again and he missed most of the Super Bowl when we needed him due to being hurt.

CB- Where is Josh Norman at?

That would be true for most teams, but I think the Panthers spend money and picks on the Dline knowing that if that part is running on all cylinders, the secondary can be just that, and, if the Oline does its job, many, many RB's can excel.  Just my thoughts

Obviously it is a lot of fun to pretend to be GMan this time of year, but none of us truly know what he is gonna do.  All I am doing is going back to the Giants years for Gman and the ones for the Panthers, coupled with our present situation and just trying to read his tendencies.  Not scientific at all, just for fun

Also hoping about 4-5 QB's go before us, ensuring we get a gem

55 different players could be first round picks.

First 14 will be(in no order)

Geoff

Wentz

Tunsil

Stanley

Elliot

Lloyd- rumors of him going 5th overall

Bosa

Rankings

Lynch- top ten due to him being a QB.

Jack

Conklin- rumors of him going in top ten.

Buckner

Ramsey

Hargraves

I believe this as a group, are the best GMs in the history of the NFL. Fewer talented players will fall/slip down the boards.

Second round will be the most exciting.

Four tiers in talent.

1-4

5-14

15-20

21-55

Keanu Neal will be the panthers pick, if he's available ........

Yeah we all have opinions and I am definitely not saying I am right. We shall see more than likely you will end up being right.

I mostly agree with the OP. I just don't think DT should be a high round priority.  Gettleman says our first round player should have an impact, we have two young DTs that aren't getting benched for a long time.  If DT were the pick it would mean Gettleman doesn't believe he's gonna be able to resign Short.  To me it's Dodd, Ogbah, Jackson3, H.Henry, Joseph, or a top 3 or 4 WR.

If all the DE's were gone and there was Butler, Henry, and Joseph left at 30, I just feel like the best value would be Butler and he would be part of our core priority group and would get the nod.  Obviously I could be wrong.  Look back at the Giants when they had all the great DLine and the draft came to them and they pick JPP anyway even though they were thoroughly stacked.  They just place a higher value on DLine

    • Exactly.  You let him play out next season and continue to develop Thorton.  Jackson’s earned his next contract, but his age and the risk of tying up such a large portion of the payroll at one position leads me to believe that we’ll let him walk. In all likelihood, we’ll draft another CB, or two, and bring in some journeymen to fill the roster void, between now and the start of the 2027 season.  That’ll create more balance financially across the roster enabling us to invest in other areas.
    • As far as the NFCS … I think this division will be hotly contested the next couple of years.   I am tending to pay more respect to both Atlanta and the Saints n terms of how strong they will be moving forward, than not.    I am mixed on Ryan but think they have a decent roster to start with. I don’t think he blundered hiring Stefanski. And that offense can be dangerous with a QB. Plus, defense is arrow up. No 1st round pick, WB issues will dull their effectiveness. Question is, to what degree?   I think Moore is going to be a good HC and can overcome tape that people have on Shough. They need a lot but they were playing with people. Just the way you want to see all the way to the end.    Not sure about Tampa they have Mayfield but I don’t think they can maintain their success and Bowles is not going to last much longer. They have to go through all that. Gonna be tough once it starts. Might already have started.    For us I feel pretty good about Morgan. But less so about our offense, we have some short term RB and OL issues and those things are critical given what we are working with at QB.  Overall, mixed. Like a lot of what I see but some major question marks remain.
    • Absolutely. If we are talking about a 20 year old youngster. He's a grown-ass man, and he doesn't know what his job entails or how to do it? Maybe he will be better next year! It's the Panther way.
