NFL.com asks: Best young building-block QB in the NFL?

Yes, most of NFL.com's "experts" are still totally bought in to the Andrew Luck legend (even though each and every year he throws TONS of picks).

But former scout Bucky Brooks differs in his opinion:

I'll take another former No. 1 overall pick instead
No. With all due respect to Andrew Luck and his impressive talents, he is no longer the obvious choice as the franchise quarterback of the future. Luck has struggled with turnover woes since his arrival, and his lack of ball security is a major issue for a team hoping to build a consistent winner. Sure, Luck has been asked to carry an offense that's been pressed into a pass-happy approach by the dearth of a steady running game, but he hasn't been able to guide his team to a Super Bowl. Fair or not, quarterbacks are judged on their ability to win rings, and Luck hasn't put his team in a position to claim one at this point.

If I had to pick out a quarterback to build around for the future, I would opt for Cam Newton. The reigning MVP guided the Carolina Panthers to Super Bowl 50 without a star-studded cast on the perimeter. Although thePanthers' defense certainly deserves credit for its role in the team's success, the offense was one of the more prolific units in football on the strength of Newton's unique talents as a dual-threat playmaker. Considering how Newton was able to win at a high level with little assistance, I would tab the MVP as the quarterback I would want to build around for the future.

Ryan Kelly is a good prospect but I was still happy the Colts took him because Seattle was going to trade with Buffalo at 19 for him.  Kelly aside, I'm VERY encouraged at what the Jags, Titans, and Texans have done and are doing.  They made up ground in that division and it won't be near the cake walk that he enjoyed (and Cam did NOT, nor the defense) when he entered the league.

As for the topic, not worth getting upset over.  MVP with Ted Ginn as a #1 WR and barely scratching the surface.  Embrace the hate.

They bash cam for having 'one great season' and point at last year for how this year was a fluke even though he was injured, then still say luck is the second coming of Jesus after he has had one 'great' season and say this year was an anomaly because injuries.

It's called moving the goalposts, totally ignoring our chitty roster, cap situation, defense, tough schedule, etc. when he arrived, was hurt and lost his entire WR corps and OL in 2014, lost KB in 2015, etc.

For QBs under 28 worth mentioning....................  I'd probably rank em like this.

T-1.  Cam/Wilson

T-2.  Carr/Bortles

5. Luck

6. Jameis

7. Bridgewater.

dangeRuss, the "great teammate" All American one, wanted to be paid more than the MVP, the younger, better player. With no Okung, Sweezy, Marshawn, and maybe Jimmy to start the year and a D@MN tough group of DLs (Miami, LA, Jets) against that HORRID OL, we're gonna see quick if he's built to last.

Wilson and Cam..........are the best young-ish QBs in the league.

Last season both of them had an amazing streak going on of around 21+ TDs to only 1 Int,      each.    Of course I prefer Cam,  that's my qb.       Ya can't go wrong with either one, though.

The fact that some people out there,  place Luck on a higher tier than Cam/Wilson,  is mind boggling to me.    Cam,  the first team All Pro,  reigning MVP,  owner of the greatest rookie season of all time,  for a qb.    Countless records.                 Wilson..........  owner of one of the highest qb ratings of all time,  built in good luck charm shoved up his ass,  to where he's making  play after play that has you going "No fuging way".

Luck.........  I like the dude,  but he is living purely off his pre-draft hype right now.  ..whereas Cam and Wilson are destroying the NFL with their awesomeness.

    • This post was an error. Oops and sorry for the errors in the previous one. Too slow to edit.   We’ll see what they do.
    • I am not sure he will put the over the games but we’ll probably have them.   Two things I am thinking.  We have 4 preseason games.  All the coaches have enough service time to know the standards that are in place for decades. If I recall it was play your starters just a series to start woth and build it up until week theee where play a lot and you have week four to set hour roster. Evaluate before cuts.   Bevell will certainly have the whole thing down pat.   I’d they don’t do the fries and frie air will worry too. Because it is set up to do that.     I have said since they went t three preseason people have to figure a new way are still feeling it out and trying things.  We don’t have to this year.
    • At least we have Mike Kay and his little buddy sidekick whoever to put you to sleep when suffering from insomnia. They're all useless unfortunately.
