Number question answered

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

So why was James Bradberry given the number 24?

Because he asked for it.

Questioned about the jersey number in his post practice interview, Bradberry said his first-choice was his college number 21, but he was informed that was taken (currently owned by Teddy Williams). Since that was unavailable, he chose a number that had been worn by players whom he admired; specifically naming Champ Bailey, Darrelle Revis, and yes, Josh Norman.

Bradberry ready to learn

So no 'messages', no shots fired, no disrespect; just a college kid wanting to wear the same number as some of his idols. Heck, that's how a lot of us picked our jersey numbers when we first started playing football.

I never got to pick a number. Was assigned 47 once and 96 another time. Nobody on the team got to pick their numbers...

I got my pick of available numbers on every team I played for from pee wee through high school. All of us did.

Wore 34 for a while when I was trying to play runningback, but mostly wore 50 and concentrated on linebacker.

Can't say I've ever heard of a team being number nazis before.

    • He’s also 21 years old. I don’t know why fiz is so eager to label him a bust
    • It’s wild to me that so many of you guys are threatened by the idea of an opposing team fan who is polite in 2025. He’s been posting here on and off for years, usually when our teams play each other which hasn’t been for a while. I’d maybe understand this treatment if it was a falcons or saints fan, but packers fans in general are one of the nicer fan bases as long as you aren’t another NFC north team (especially the bears).
    • Some players excel on the big stage, while others freeze and succumb to the pressure. I’m not convinced Cam took a dive. I think he didn’t handle the stage very well. The pressure got to him and he folded. He wouldn’t be the first quarterback or player to struggle in a Super Bowl. Two HOF examples - John Elway and Jim Kelly. The 2002 MVP, Rich Gannon, threw 5 interceptions against the Bucs. Poor performances happen.  Unless of course you believe all these players threw the games they played in, but if that occurred, surely someone by now would have admitted taking a dive? 🤷‍♂️
