Cam Newton Respect (Ruiz gets it)

Havent seen this article posted or referenced yet. It's not just another "Cam is best" read. It tells Cam's ascendency story in a way Panther fans will truly appreciate. It's not just that he's good--it's that he's becoming well-rounded. Even though he won't get credit for it by many. But Ruiz sees it, and he has a good idea on how Cam will maintain his competitiveness long-term. Really loved this write-up.

Nice article. I have to think that as Cam dominates again this year that people will start to see him as the amazing QB he is. Sure there will always be the haters but I think Cam can prove how much he is in command of this offense this year. And people will still be baffled and won't have seen it coming.

Lol

I actually like the article linked to this phrase as much as the #1 article that the post is about. Spoiler alert: If you don't like Cam (or anyone for that matter) because of their race...you're a frikkin racist prick!

“Coordinator Mike Shula will send in a formation and a handful of play calls, and then it’s up to Newton to adjust the alignment of the skill-position players, call for motions and pick the play he thinks has the best chance of success against the defensive look. ‘It’s not much different than what you have seen with Peyton Manning in terms of being out of the shotgun, having to look at defenses and make determinations,’ Rivera says.”

At 27, Newton is already showing the characteristics of the quarterbacks we deify for their minds and total command of an offense."

Love it. Just love it.

The only QBs that really orchestrate their offenses like that are Manning (now retired) Rodgers, Brady. That is next level poo right there. You must have complete control of the offense and really have a good grasp on what the defense is trying to do to even try that.

    • That's a very incorrect statement right off the bat, coaches get fired for winning ugly all the time.  Every coach of a playoff team that then gets fired, got fired because they won ugly and didn't improve their players enough to win in the postseason. Guys like Andy Reid have been fired for "winning ugly" like you said, because they kept winning in spite of the improvement of their players. Also, "this is a fanbase starved for wins" is a statement I also don't agree with, I'm not "starved for wins", I'm "starved for a winning and contending franchise" which are two VERY different things. If the team and fans just want to win some games, then that's a loser mentality, sorry, but it is.  We should want to contend, not win a handful of games.  Every time this comes up I point back to the Lions the last 5 years or so.  They were losing games but improving every week while doing so a few years back.  THAT is how you improve as a franchise and move the needle towards contending, not winning games ugly.
    • Good lord. I don’t think I have ever seen a hole that open.
    • this is true.  But NFL Ss and defenses are actively taking that away and playing to take them away vs most teams.  The problem thus far in BY's career......is they are cheating and not respecting the deep game which makes the smaller/mid range game harder to pull off.  and Dallas is an anomaly game.  using those random games that run counter to vast work......doesn't really change the discussion/issues in Carolina.  Bryce Young took the shots this week because they were not just NFL open but college open.    Wide open dudes downfield that really were coverage busts/issues.
