Michael Bennett "Get rid of me" if you don't value me

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett overcame the highest of odds. He went from undrafted free agent in 2009 ― meaning he wasn’t selected during the 256-pick draft ― to not only making a team and building an NFL career, but becoming a Pro Bowl Defensive MVP and Super Bowl champion.

The problem now for Bennett is that he’s stuck in a contract that leaves him woefully underpaid. Bennett, 30, is a game-wrecker, a premium asset in today’s pass-happy NFL.

“I just want to be fairly compensated with the top guys in the league,” Bennett tells The Huffington Post. “I’m definitely one of the top five defensive ends.”

To understand his dominance, we must first understand how the former Texas A&M standout compares to his peers. Despite being the 27th highest-paid defensive lineman in the league, Bennett is, by nearly any measure, one of the five most productive. His 10 sacks in 2015 ranked 11th among all defensive ends, and his 24 quarterback hurries tied for sixth. As a reference point, three-time Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt tallied 26 QB hurries in the same period. Speaking of Watt, Bennett ranks second only to the Texan defensive end in total quarterback pressures (292) over the past four seasons, according to Pro Football Focus.

Perhaps most telling, though, is the fact that no 4-3 defensive ends in the league recorded more pressures (91) last year than No. 72.

I hate this kind of talk from players. He knew what he was going to be paid each year when he signed the contract.  That is 100% on him, if he thought he should have been paid more he should have negotiated better PERIOD!

That's not how this works, that's not how any of this works.

He knew each year what he would be paid and agreed to it.  No one twisted his arm, he wanted the security of a multi-year guaranteed contract.  Now that he is a year away from FA and no longer has the long-term security he had previously he is bitching. That is complete crap.  Negotiate yourself a better deal with more backend originally or shut up and finish out your contract!

By the way, I absolutely love your quote.

    • They are 1 and 9 against the  Bucs in the past 10 games. the Panthers go as young goes.  QB1 ‘s are suppose to dictate and overcome  and elevate Everything the QB does affects every part of the team and Bryce is uneven. Canales and Bryce have  an uneven relationship too  as for Evero, the only thing that might save him is the injury to Baker’s left shoulder and oline injuries. I don’t even know how he is out there   I really feel their season ended last Sunday Canales’ division record isn’t great   Getting owned by the Saints and Bucs isn’t a good look
    • Frankly surprised by the amount of people that want to hang Evero. This was a defense that was almost universally considered the bottom of the barrel before this season started. We’ve managed to stat our way to the middle of the pack whatever that means. Those critical of the zone schemes, what do you want? When even JC is getting burnt one on one by Olave you have little choice. There definitely have been moments where the zone blitz stuff has bit us. That said, are the third string linebackers (and nick Scott) covering poo anyway? This unit had only conceded 10 points going into the fourth quarter despite a litany of bullshit penalties on both sides. Them over performing is the biggest reason we are still in playoff contention.
