the whole belicheat "this is not a dress rehearsal" and ron agreeing with him was a major smoke screen. Obviously Billy butt cheat meticulously game planned for this one b/c he knows the patriots will be an afterthought this season and there's absolutely no way the PATS play the Panthers again this season (ala superbowl).

I aint even tripping. Fu.ck the pats, and fu.ck the preseason.

I hope you're kidding. They know Cam isn't going to run so they don't need a spy, they don't need to run any contain on the line and our receivers can't break basic man coverage. This isn't game planning, it's common sense.

If this were a regular season game and the Pats were running the defense they are now Cam would've had at least 60 yards rushing in the first half on scrambles alone.

Side note: There have been four drops.

Again, Panther fans waiting for this offense to lead the way will be sorely mistaken and frustrated. This team in the Ron-Cam era is built, led, and constructed around the DEFENSE. There is a reason why Newton won the MVP award last year: he was surrounded with about the 25th ranked offense based on talent alone and managed to get that to the No. 1 scoring unit in the NFL. Kinda like he led a bunch of sub-talented Auburn Tigers offensive unit through the SEC and a national championship.

Since Newton has been in Carolina, we have drafted exactly ONE player on offense in the first round. This is Newton's sixth year. Not one WR or Oline man, or RB...ONE OFFENSIVE PLAYER. PERIOD. END OF DISCUSSION. I think we have drafted 2 offensive players in the Second round in that time frame. The Jaguars attempted to give Blake Bortles more talent in his rookie draft than the Panthers have Newton in Six seasons.

And keep in mind that Newton came into the WORST offense of all time.

Days like this WILL happen when you insist on building your team with the offensive unit as an afterthought. The only reason why this offense doesn't have more days like this is the sheer greatness of Newton and Greg Olsen.

Again, this team will go as far as this defense takes us. The offense's job is to literally stay out of their way.

Yea everyone needs to chill the fug out no olsen, no threat of cam running, no blitz packages, vanilla offense, vanilla defense

this times 100.  cam looked pedestrian tonight; not gonna trip about it.  usually when the pass game is puttering cam does something with his legs that helps swing momentum.  not gonna happen in pre-season vanilla offense.  defense probably isn't even really playing him to run.

the first string o-line looked solid in pass protection, but none of the receivers really helped out tonight.  can tell cam is not as confident with his safety valve, olsen, standing on the sidelines.  i'm gonna forget about tonight and i think most fans would do good to do the same.

    • The good news is that we are pretty uniquely well established to address all of our needs this season. We have $14m real cap space, and something like $40m in trade deadline cap space. Not sure exactly how that works out. But, we have the room to absorb any bad contracts. With recent rule changes regarding retention, that went into effect this season, we now have a huge advantage in the trade market.  On top of that, while we do have obvious needs, we also have a glut of talent in certain areas that we struggle to find ice time for. We are over-stocked on scrappy talented lil-guys, strong defensively sound 3rd liners and shutdown left shot dmen. Whether it's a package or separate deals, idk. But, one of each from Stank/Blake/Nads, Erob/Carrier/KK/Jank, and Walker/Nystrom; throw in some 1st round picks (and frankly any other prospects they want) and we should be able to come out with a 1b to pair with Bussi and either a 2c with size or a 2c and size.   TL/DR We got the money, you got the stuff?
    • I don’t  think 6’4 was ever considered small or undersized. Baby hands tho, yes that was his thing That’s an interesting idea, like an optical illusion? Sounds like you have personal experience with this!
    • in the 25' draft the Carolina Panthers had hired Brandt Tillis someone who actually understood how to build a successful team & build through the draft .  this team was yes mismanaged for years prior to Brandt Tillis joining the team in 25' & rarely done anything right in the draft outside occaionaly getting lucky on an UDFA such as Jalen Coker who's dad coincidentally happened to be a huge Carolina Panthers fan, hint hint  ...just saying
