He's definitely better than Fisher, but, he's still getting jobs when he shouldn't.

Tell me why a coach who went 13-3, 13-3, 12-4 the previous years before being hired by the Bears wasn't worth a coaching hire. He took his previous 2 teams to the Superbowl and was coming off 3 straight 12+ win seasons.

He basically showed up and won.  Peyton coached the offense and Del Rio the defense.  Fox once again took a ride on Del Rio's defense to a Superbowl just like he did here.

He's not bad, but he's the definition of a mediocre coach, so if you want to not be the "worst" but not really reach "potential" then yes, he's OK.

I've got no issues with John Fox having a coaching gig. Mike Mularkey on the other hand...

Except that one year he made the playoffs with The Golden Calf of Bristol at quarterback

For some reason this made me think of Marty Schottenheimer getting fired after a 14-2 season.

Much like other jobs, those that kiss ass and network instead of actually performing tend to get the nod.

It's all about relationships people.

Yup, part of the reason I became a full time Panther fan, is because after the new owners of the 49ers fired Marucci because he 'wasn't their guy' even tho he was winning 10 games a season with a bad team.

2003 was a good D.  It wasn't like they carried us like Denver of last season.

That 2003 squad I think won the most OT games and close games of any team to ever reach a Super Bowl.  Given that you have to tip your hat to his coaching coming into play often.   Offense won as many games as the D that year IMO.

Jeff Fisher is the Bon Jovi of the NFL: did its best work 25 years ago, has been doing a victory lap ever since and the fans are just looking worse and worse every year. Won't be pulling down any awards any time soon, but has just enough name recognition to not be relegated to the State Fair and Remember When circuit.

John Fox is a real enigma.

He's coaching his third team despite never having technically been fired from either of his previous two jobs.

His history shows he's capable of coming in and having quick success, but the phrase "familiarity breeds contempt" seems to sum up his coaching career. Once he's been in the same place for a while though, his employers just want him to go away.

Makes for a weird resumé.

Our offense wasn't a laughingstock like Denver's was; people forget Stephen Davis finished third in MVP voting. We had a quarterback who led comeback after comeback, a great line, great running back, and two top-ten wideouts (Smith and Muhammad) and a solid third guy (Proehl).
