Hardly seems your the average person. You better stop. You are making the company look less trustworthy needing to defend itself in social media and online forums.

After your comments, the article they seemingly allowed, and what I see on their facebook page I will never go there or recommend them to anyone. In fact, I will advise extreme caution to anyone I know who may be going there, and to make sure they do not try to take advantage of them.

They need to publicly apologize for treating a paying customer like this, possibly fire whoever orchestrated this mess, and then make amends with Tolbert publicly.

Horrible business practices.

Why do they need to publically apologize? We know really nothing.  It is just as reasonably possible Tolbert was in the wrong.  Maybe they both were.  Maybe it was all the shop.

upset people aren't always in the right.  Sometimes they are, sometimes aren't.  Sometimes upset people should be told to kick rocks.  That is life (or it use to be)

Not sure how I'm not an average person?

The company posted on there Facebook page about the experience after Tolbert had already blew them up and there Instagram. I think they have the right to defend themselves.

And this isn't a simple brake job or oil change he wanted done...he was asking for the factory 350 ci motor to be removed from his 1970 Cadillac and have a motor from a 2010 Corvette be put in its place. That's not exactly plug and play.

So, let me get this straight. Tolbert is perfectly in the right for blowing up this business on social media, but the business has no right in defending themselves and telling their side? Right....

It does not matter if Tolbert is in the right. He is a paying customer. The establishment accepted his $3900. If they wanted to make this an ethical argument in their favor, then they needed to wash their hands of Tolbert. Charge him nothing, write it off, and then make a public statement about their business policy without making any direct connection to his name.

It has gone national. If this is a small business, they will quickly learn the cost of doing business in the media. Tolbert has nothing to lose outside of his 3900 pennies. That business is going to lose out immensely because of their actions.

I wonder how much they valued their ethical campaign at? It is going to cost them quite a bit. Should have just ran some commercials and did free work for local celebrities for that cost.

Good bye Canary Island engines. I would like to get an update in a few months on accounts lost due to the actions of a business airing their grievances with customers in the national media.

There is a reason people get fired for these actions. Glad no one in my business is dumb enough to carry out an ethical crusade about a disgruntled client. It does not matter who is wrong or right. It will cost the business greatly.

Maybe.  World is different now. I'll give you that.  Perception matters more now than reality.  Perception in today's world forms quickly and often unfairly.

A business where I live went out of business because one crazy mom went to the news and everyone believed her (by that I mean the news gave her coverage).

her claim was false ultimately.  But it made the social media rounds and they were done within the year

Turns out Motion Lab Tuning in Charlotte North Carolina spends most of their time tweaking their narrative by deleting complaints and only displaying conversations that frame them as the victim.

With a little research I have found that Motion Lab Tuning in Charlotte North Carolina is good for basic repairs and major work on Honda's.

Motion Lab Tuning in Charlotte North Carolina's custom work causes many problems. I have already read reviews in other locations that detail the treatment they received from Motion Lab Tuning in Charlotte North Carolina going back 2, 3, and 5 years. They sound all very similar to Tolbert's account of how the business operates.

Here is one detailed review of Motion Lab Tuning in Charlotte North Carolina from 2012. The account is very familiar to others the company ignores.

Seems Motion Lab Tuning in Charlotte North Carolina will sell you on custom work with an underbid and if it does not work out, Motion Lab Tuning in Charlotte North Carolina will hold the client accountable. Seems their communication and customer care is very problematic.

Motion Lab Tuning in Charlotte North Carolina lure you in with their facebook page thinking they have outstanding service and customer care. They delete the customer issues.

It would not surprise me one bit if they were on these forums trying to control the narrative.

Do your research well or businesses like these will easily deceive you.

I don't think anyone cares.  That is a high end tuning shop and most serious car guys don't like football.

As a consumer of both I couldn't care less what Tolbert says. If it was a serious personality like Luke or TD I MIGHT care.

so he took the time and energy to crack open 4k worth of coins and dump them in a pot that the mechanic will dump in a coin sorter and deposit three minutes later?

I read it as he paid in coins yes...but they were still in rolls, straight from the bank, nice and neat.

In fairness, lots of businesses delete junk from social media.  It is basically a common practice at this point.

You can also name an outstanding business of good size.....and likely find some horrible stuff said about them online.

In today's world I tend to not believe either side.  Both are usually false versions of the truth.

As far as additional work, that happens across the board in all kinds of avenues. Get in a car wreck and they will give you a quote for repairs.  90% of the time they will find additional work once started and a new bill.  The customer is held accountable for the additional work if they want it fixed.

My only disappointment is in how poorly Mike executed his coin job
