The real issue with our defense

Yeah, thanks to the offense turning the ball over a lot more. ..but lets blame the defense for allowing those points on  many short fields.

Not blaming them. We've turned the ball over about half as much as we did all of last year.

The real issue with our defense is our offense.

I agree that the offense hasn't played well through our 1st 3 games. Maybe giving an exception to the 2nd game (49'ers). With that being said, the defense needs to stop opponents from scoring. Yeah I know, the offense put them back on the field too soon, they're tired bc the offense isn't doing their part. Well if our opponents offense is putting points on the board, our defense isn't doing its part!

On average our defense is allowing 3.75 points off each turnover (8 turnovers and 30 points). Last year, they allowed only 1.7 (19 turnovers and 32 points). So efficiency is an issue. However the defense can only do so much when Ted Ginn fumbles the kickoff or Cam is strip-sacked on his side of the field. We did a good job last year at letting the defense not have to constantly deal with that.

Most of this is true, but we struggled a bit during the Denver game on defense even before the Offense turned the ball over.

True, Denver was able to run the ball with relative ease.  We have done better in that regard the last two games, but I am not sure how much of that is our improvement, and how much is the lack of a running from the opponent.  Guess we will find out this week as Atlanta seems to have the best run game we have faced this year.

Should we expect the defense to shut them out?  They scored 13 offensive points for the entire game.  That should be good enough to win just about any NFL game.

Yep. We scored 10 and missed a field goal. Defense wasn't the problem

    • So, based off the official depth chart, there are a few things I dont like on defense. Bobby Brown III as the backup, with Robinson starting over him,  and our smallest DL starting at NT. I dont like that neither of our 2nd rounder OLBs are starting, so I am hoping for heavy rotation there. Also, David Moore is our punt returner, WTF? Also, our primary backup RB as the KR when we have other capable players like Horn Jr and Trevor?  OFFENSE: WR: *Tetairoa McMillan* - Jalen Coker - *Jimmy Horn Jr.* TE: Tommy Tremble - #James Mitchell# LT: Ikem Ekwonu - Brady Christensen  LG: Damien Lewis - Chandler Zavala C - Austin Corbett - Cade Mays RG: Robert Hunt  RT: Taylor Moton - Yosh Nijman TE: Ja`Tavion Sanders - *Mitchell Evans* WR: Xavier Legette - Adam Thielen - David Moore - #Brycen Tremayne# QB: Bryce Young - Andy Dalton RB: Chuba Hubbard - #Rico Dowdle# - *Trevor Etienne* DEFENSE: LE: A`Shawn Robinson - #Bobby Brown III#  NT: #Tershawn Wharton# - *Cam Jackson* RE: Derrick Brown - Jaden Crumedy LOLB: #Patrick Jones II# - *Nic Scourton* - Thomas Incoom LILB: Trevin Wallace - (Bam Martin-Scott)  RILB: #Christian Rozeboom# - Claudin Cherrelus  ROLB: D.J. • A couple of these guys might take exception to that, but yea, I get what you’re saying.
