Two to think about.

Per Brian Strickland at Panthers.com.

"It's not coincidence that Carolina scored 10 points when Newton was sacked eight times, 20 points when he was sacked three times (at Denver) and 46 points when he was sacked once (vs. San Francisco)."

"Carolina's 26 penalties so far are fifth-most in the league. Not surprisingly, the seven teams with 25 or more penalties through Week 3 had a combined record of 7-14."

So maybe it is just that simple. Protect Cam, and limit the penalties.

So...what you are saying is; Let's clean this mess up. Get back to playing Panther football. And start winning some durn games.

I'm with you. Besides a few missed plays, most of our ills are lack of discipline. That is not our normal game. We still want to play a physical, beat you up game. But we usually play with more discipline. Or we did. Get that back, and we should be good.

The amount of penalties is disturbing tho...I really don't understand it I hope it's Something they can get corrected....I automatically subtract 10 to 15 yards from where ever Ginn catches punts...sad

Rivera hates penalties. Although he does understand that sometimes they just happen. I do expect them to clean this up. And I mean like, right now. All RR wants is for his players to play tough, disciplined football. We still have that tough part down. It is that discipline part we are lacking.

If we continue to be a top 10 team on Offense, and Defense, we should win a lot of games. But, if we don't clean this mess up. It is going to make the going just that much more difficult.

If it were penalties for being too agressive you know like roughing or PI I could understand but it's bonehead penalties, ticky tack stuff  which does give me hope that it will get corrected

    • Yea, its a awful year for COY there's like 5 coaches Id as a  non-panther fan say are more worthy than Dave. Ben Johnson is doing similar to Dave by taking a yearly loser into a winner, but da bears are what 9-10 wins right now. Liam Coen has the fuging jags at 9-4 with similar talent as Panthers, I mean they drafted before them this pass year and had nearly zero from a guy they traded up for @#2 hunter.  ugh....Sean Payton&vance has the broncos as the current #1 seed in the AFC..... you know the broncos before the year starts you have the chiefs with mahomes&reid and chargers with herbo&harbs. No one had broncos winning there nor as a the #1 overall seed.  Mike Macdonald has the Seahawks at 10-3 compare that to Panthers 7-6, they are in a blood bath against Rams and 49ers.....shanny has half the team on IR with a 9-4 record.  Chargers are 9-4 with no OL or RB and not much on D.  I have even put colts above Dave and the Panthers, if not for Danny injury...they were on the way and playing great. Just soooooooooooo many HC deserving this year and still more games, but Dave has over played this year for sure. I had them at a firm 2 win team, with 4 being the maybe and 7?!?!?!? being the everything goes right. 7 wins is possible given the shitty NFC south.
    • He did everything right but catch the ball. Kept his hands out in front, palms away from his body, watched it in, and then dropped the dam ball! Text book up until he dropped it.
    • Just try to enjoy it for what it is. I don't need to convince myself that Young is good. He isn't. If this team makes the playoffs with the cinder block of Young dragging them down all season, even better.  But, some crucial things still need to happen, and being close, and moral victories, and at-least-they-tried isn't good enough.
