Cam Newton is playing the worst ball of his career this year. He's been garbage.

Blame the NFL on that one....refs blantenly looked the other way when he was getting pounded to the head...

His coaches and the training staff should've stepped in and made sure he sat for at least a week. You can't always ride with it when a player says "no I'm fine" because he hasn't been "fine" since week one.

You could argue from the start of the season to half time of Minny was his Cam at his best.   Production however is dependent on those around him.

Big picture, Cam will get the most praise for our success and blame for the losses.  He deserves some blame like today, stupid penalty out of the gate, slowing up at the goal.

But picture we were exposed last season late and overachieved with horrible OT play.  We also have no rush attack minus Cam when Stewart is out.  Lastly, we knew last season we only had a pass rush at DT and entered the year with scrubs at DB.   So while you can and rightfully nitpick Cam....Gettlemen IMO is the Panther most at fault today.  Just because Cam pulled off magic last season doesn't justify Gettlemen's lack of addressing big issues and creating a new one.

Look, I'm a big Cam fan. Was a student at Auburn to see his rise to success. Being a SC native and current resident, I have always been a fan, even when he was being trashed about his discrepancies in college.

BUT

I have to say, I felt a negative blanket walk off the field when he was removed from the game today. Anderson brought a freshness with him to the game, cleared the air. I'm getting the feeling there may be some unspoken tensions within the offense. I'm not sure if you can place the blame on Cam or his protection and offensive weapons (do we even have any lately?)....but it is clear that Cam's frustration bleeds into the rest of the offense. The scary part is you can almost pin point the exact play in each game, where Cam's mental game is defeated. It's a similar feeling when I watch golfer losing the mental game in one single swing of the club.

The hope I'm resting on tonight is that we've lost to 2 of the best defensive teams and the best offensive team, so far this year. Mabye its a bad roll of the dice for our schedule. I will still be rooting on our team and pulling for Cam next week.

Cam is purely frustrated about the calls not being called the media bashing, and yes the offensive coordinator.  The first play of game he gets called for taunting but really he is mad bc he is trying to get up but the defensive end guy is just laying on him like dead weight..he gets up and throws football and does his Cam Newton 1st down move only to find out he is penalized for taunting.  I'm sure Cam his mentally breaking down..it is a lot of pressure on him..and No one is helping him even when he has done no wrong he is constantly being taken for granted..do this Cam don't do this..He literally has no support..That commercial sums it up.  You get tired of having to be perfect when you know your not but masking gets old ...The joy of the game has been taken away from Cam but that's just how the NFL wanted it..He's just going thru the motions out there.

As much as some of you want to ignore it, the OP is right. Cam is not playing good ball and that affects the defense too. To be fair, Lee and Luke are about the only one's holding up their end of the bargain right now, but everything starts with #1. Cam Newton sets the tone for the game, whether it's good or bad. He wouldn't be there first QB with a struggling O-line either. I've watched Big Ben get the poo beat out of him year after year, but he still finds a way to make plays...all the great ones do.

Perhaps they should have watched that Super Bowl tape a little more critically

all of these issues on the line have been there since gross retired

Stewart's issues not new either

but hey, that DT was sitting there and we really needed those three CBs

there is no fight in this dog  or panther and after a super bowl run  incredibly disappointing

but they make their millions regardless

Big Ben has always had a more talented team around him. To be honest, I can't think of any other elite qb who has had so little to work with.

The facts are this.

When the offensive line was not allowing a pressure, Cam was 105.

With no pressure, 46.

The issue is pretty simple. Gettleman was too arrogant to build around the man.

You can watch all the tape you want...need better bodies at key spots.  Entire NFL knows the weakness we successfully schemed around.  Now we add another weak area at DB.  You can't coach around the fact you have no DEs and DBs.  There is only so much you can scheme up (and we went max protect already) to hide bad OTs and weak runners (when Stew is out)

Who let the 49ers back in the game 2 weeks ago? Cam when he held the ball out like it was funnel cake from the fair back inside his own 20.

Who stopped all of our momentum last week when we had the Vikings on the ropes? Cam when he held onto the ball for an eternity inside his own end zone to gift the Vikings a safety.

Who made the first big mistake of the day today by throwing the ball at the Falcon? Cam who got a stupid taunting penalty right off the bat.

Who got himself concussed by his pathetic stop at the half yard line on a 2 point try? That would be Cam Newton.

This even goes back to preseason when he ran on the field when AJ Klein had a pick 6.

Simply put, Cam Newton is not doing the little things to win this year. Moronic penalties, careless turnovers, holding onto the ball for an eternity like he's a rookie again, lazy efforts on the goal line...these are extremely simple things that are the easiest things in the world to fix, but he has yet to do so.

Do better Cam; do better.

I've got funnel cakes for $2.00. Everyone loves funnels cakes and Cam's got em up for grabs.
