CAP transfer limit?

What you have at the end of the year, is what you start with the next year. The only time you lose cap, is if you don't use it in a certain amount of time. I think it is every 3 years you have to spend a certain %. Not sure what that % is though. Around 85% or so i think.

You never lose the cap carryover, period. The only other rule is that you have to use 89% (from memory but I think that's the number) of the cap space for each four year period. The new CBA was in 2011, so I'm 99% sure that we are in year two of that four year period. Again I know DG is the devil these days bout our big cap issues come after the next couple years, hence the savings this year.

I did say that the ONLY time you lose your cap is if you don't use it withing that 3-4 year window. If you don't use, we'll say 90% to round it off, you pay a penalty. Cap space, and draft pick(s). Not sure of the exact penalty.

Most reasonable fan do realize that we are not going to keep that much cap space around for ever. We do have players to pay, and we do have holes that need to be addressed. (By the end of the year, we should have a better clue on what holes we are actually going to need to address.)

We still don't know what Gman's philosophy is on those higher priced FAs. Will he ever pay over minimum wage for a FA? This off-season is going to be interesting.

The Panthers must have spending cash equal to or greater than 89% the salary cap by the end of the 2016 league year. If there is any short fall they must pay it by Sep. 15, 2017, and it will be paid to the players from the previous years. This shortfall will be deducted from the following year's salary cap.

The total salary cap from 2013 to 2016 is $555,150,000. Teams must have spending cash of at least $494,083,500. The Panthers have spending cash to date of $471,861,577.

The Panthers are currently $22,221,923 below the 89% threshold, and they will be able to carry over $19,753,250 due to being under the 2016 cap.

When the Panthers reconcile these numbers at the end of the 2016 season with the NFL,  they will completely lose all of their carry over plus a portion of next years cap space. The money will be allocated to all the players from the previous 2013 to 2016 seasons.

So, if you think they are just going to carry over $20m to use for next off season, then you are wrong. The Panthers have to spend $22m by the end of the 2016 season or they will be forced to spend it on previous seasons by the NFL/NFLPA/CBA.

My guess is this money is likely tagged to extend players that will be free agents after the season like KK, Remmers, and Ginn. I wish they just used it to sign Norman and KK to long term deals. Either way, the Panthers need to spend $22m before the 2016 season is over.

I hope they do not use any of it on Remmers. He already took up $2.6m of the cap this season with his overvalued tender.

Ok dude. Who are you, and what did you do with CPK? That was useful information. Damm Professor, that's dope. (I used that right? Right?.)

Then you had to finish it off in typical CPK style. Dude. Why can't you use your gifts for good?

I got into the cap floor last year. It basically turns out that it's nothing to worry about. Signing Cam and Luke basically got us out of the danger zone. The usual signing of guys at the end of the year will make us cover it. Hell, I believe just franchising KK will eat up 2/3 of what we need to spend. Regardless, I'm not sure what direction the team is headed but we may end up sitting pretty if the team this year starts to perform better.
