Base 4-3 defense

How come we are not playing more base 4-3 defense where the strength of the defense is the LB corp.  I member during off-season Shaq having a nice camp breaking pass plays , creating turnovers, I would rather have Shaq in coverage than the rookie CBs

Shaq is amazing at stopping screens, and stopping runs. He blows donkey balls in pass coverage. IMO

Well, we played base 4-3 on 72 of 73 snaps yesterday. Shaq was in for all but one play and was our defacto nickel CB yesterday. It didn't go great btw.

I couldn't watch the game on tv due broadcasting coverage ,had to use shitty streaming website where I got to see 1 play every 10 mins.

Shaq was our nickel for a lot of the game. Couldn't hang with Cooks, but other than that played alright.

Yeah the famed Buffalo Nickel which was suppose to be the next great defense ala Rob Ryan's 13 safety packages got shredded yesterday. The long Brandin Cooks play that cost us the game ultimately happened because Shaq got sucked into Brees.

 

If only we had the means to put CBs on the field.

Because we trusted Shaq to play CB more than we trusted our actual CBs to play CB

Absolutely. Other than that, he was ok in coverage. Kept a lot of guys in front him, made some good tackles and batted a pass down that was clutch

Saftey probably fuged up but what was even more stupid was putting Sanchez on a TE for the touchdown it should have been the other way around.

In zone defense Sanchez is responsible for an area right? So he is responsible for whoever is running a route in it. Hes not put on any particular player ir it would be man, no?
