Reviewing some of Gettleman's quotes.

So let's review our young friend here, shall we?

He started off with hoping to see some of our own players get injured.

Now he's moved to hoping that our general manager has health problems.

And he's throwing in that he hopes another huddler has health problems too.

I think it's fairly safe to say that a certain someone has a really messed up sense of priorities and takes football just a little too seriously.

Does anyone believe in Gettleman's formula for long term sustained success? Does he even have one that he follows?

Long term sustained success is what dynasties do. A team must win a SB championship before going after a dynasty.

Do you want to be the Eagles, Vikings or Chiefs? To win divisions and never win a SB championship is extremely painful for players and fans. It is an example of insanity.

Gettleman's formula is backwards and it shows.

With the new CBA you load up a team with 12 core players. A core player is a key free agent signing or a player extended after their rookie contract for a minimum of 5 years. These 12 players get 70% of the salary cap each year, and they will be the ones to contribute more than 80% of the team's on field production.

Then you want to have the other 10 starters made up of drafted players under their rookie contracts. They have yet to become a franchise player until they continue with the team following their rookie contract.

The next 18 players are role players and are either drafted or free agents making 1m per season.

The final 10 players make 500k per season.

The final 3 players are the K, P, and LS. 10m is tied up with the ST players, in season player acquisitions and dead money.

That is how a GM will build a champion.

Gettleman has a 50/50 salary cap split with the top 12 players and the rest of the roster. He over pays for bottom tier talent that rarely sees the field and is lucky to break 30% of their units snaps on the season. This is a mediocre formula that has been riding the foundation from 2011/2012. That foundation is falling away now, and there are no capable players to replace that foundation.

Wait a second...you complain about him not fixing the OL and shortly after complain because Michael Oher is one of our best players and is over 30?

Also, you called Tedd Ginn and Charles Johnson a couple of our best players. They are playing decently in their roles but are hardly top players on this team.

@nctarheel0619 We're 1-5 with almost the same roster (minus DBs) as last season. If any screws needed to be tightened, it should be those on the coaches and players imo. You don't discard a GM that comes in and  3 postseason berths after a drought that lasted half a decade because the team is 1-5. The team was 1-3 before going 11-1 when they went 12-4.

I'm not saying that it's likely that the team will win the division for a 4th season in a row, or even that they'll make the playoffs. What I'm saying is that you don't get rid of somebody that has produced results for their first 3 years and then hang them because of injuries, coaching, discipline, and execution absolutely killing a team that is just a few players different from a 15-1 SB contender (imo ofc).

He's definitely made bad calls. He's far from perfect. I don't want perfection. I want to see how he learns and responds to this experience before I make any type of judgment.

That's the problem. Its almost the same roster. The same roster that went almost perfect and choked in the SB. Any competent GM would take that game and bring in new players the next season (John Elway). I can go through a list of players who should have been cut and/or not have had so much faith put in them following the SB

You would have health problems if you are fat and can't  control your diet so it would be self inflected, I was just pointing out he is fat and he could have health problems. Now please go back to sucking D.G.s balls

Hopefully he has to retire for being overweight and not being a healthy person.

Apparently we have different understandings of the word "hopefully".

(I'm not even gonna address "inflected")

"Hopefully" you'll someday be mature enough to be embarrassed by your behavior here.

    • That's my biggest concern with making him the 2C.  You split up the Aho Jarvis bromance that accounted for a lot of points.  If Jarvis excels as a C, it could help the team even more though.
    • The Saints being that high is the one that killed me. Chris Olave might not know his name at this point, Shaheed is coming off injury as well, so 31 year old Brandin Cooks might be your best WR...coming off a 260 yard season over 10 games. Kamara is Kamara, but didn't have 1,000 yards last year and is about to turn 30.  Toss in the fact that Taysom Hill may be the best QB on the team and I truly don't understand Barnwell's thoughts beside seeing the names "Olave" and "Kamara" and going yep, that sounds better than "Chuba" and "Thielen".
    • Now now now, I wouldn't say there is no logic, but there's just not a lot of in-depth thought put into Barnwell's  "analysis." Now to be fair to him (and other national writers), pre-season team rankings are basically clickbait. And...Barnwell, himself, said that "there's a lot of projection here." He basically admits that he doesn't know how the hell things are going to turn out with our receiver group. He also said that "I find myself" more intrigued by Coker than Legette; that does not mean that he said that fans should be, or that Coker will even be better than Legette (regardless of ESPN's per-route-run stat). So, yeah, Barnwell said some things, but even he has to basically admit that he doesn't know how bad or good that our playmakers will be in 2025.  Overall, what Barnwell is basically thinking is that the Panthers have gotten worse at the offensive skill positions, and baked into that is that others have gotten better. That's the argument in July (meaning, please don't give this any more weight than it's due). I would personally be surprised (not shocked) if we end up worse than the Titans, Pats and Giants at least. Once you throw in the Bills, Giants, Jets, Steelers, and even the Chargers, I personally think there are several teams' skill groups that may end up ranked lower than ours by the end of 2025.  @kungfoodudeis one of my dudes, but like others he is over the tipping point. He's had enough. Seeing is believing. I will say this though: Barnwell's piece is less about logic than just good ol' opinion. And to be honest, he might as well be a Huddler throwing out sh¡t in the summer based upon nothing but good feels or bad feels.  Our offense as a whole (just like any other team's) is going to depend upon the play of the O-line and especially the QB. How you can even rank the skill positions without expressly baking those two things in the cake is beyond me. I would dare say that that's not even logical.
