Cam thinks it's funny that everyone has a lot to say

William Hayes said in an interview yesterday that he feels there are "other QBs" who would get the calls the refs are missing on Cam.  http://www.therams.com/videos/videos/William-Hayes-Press-Conference---111/283408de-a4fb-4e6a-b1d1-316e1daf42cb (1 minute in)

Thanks for this

Hayes said, "Some of those hits he was talking about were kind of questionable, and I think if it was other quarterbacks they would’ve been called. But that’s not for me to say."

"We’re just going to play the way we play football," Hayes added. "We’re not going to play dirty; we’re just going to play physical and fast. We’re not going to target him because he’s complaining about getting hit."

the media definitely can spin words. They've been mentioning William Hayes saying he should slide faster but won't include the rest of what he said. Why are people saying he should slide faster? He's not complaining about hits while running. He's talking about while he's a pocket passer. Do they not get it?

Yeah, I don't know why Hayes said that.  He must not have been paying close attention to what Cam was specifically talking about, and was just addressing the question in general.

the old guard HATED Iverson but the younger generations loved him and it took until he retired to be loved. same thing will happen with Cam. funny how Iverson had the same deal with off-field issues before his NBA career that most people pointed to as the reason they didn't like him similar to Cam at Florida.

This is true. Young people love him, old people hate him and it's because hes changing the culture. AI's downfall were his many, many vices and the amount of yes men around him.

Its not that people from the networks are stupid and just hate Cam. Everyone on the networks has a boss and are being told what to say and what not to say. They are not expressing their true feelings about the situation because of the major circumstances. The NFL cant say Cams allegations are valid. It would open up a flood gate of issues. Did the refs know he was being hit illegally? Was they told not to throw flags? And if any of this is true then the games are fixed like plenty have said. The question is why? Is Cam so great that this is the only way to handcuff him and the team? And this is proof black QB's are not treated the same and I mean true black QB's. Plus the NFL dont care about the kids because that is what Cam is all about.

Broke my heart when I heard and saw that Iverson was an alcoholic, and had a bad gambling problem. Saw AI drunk and slumped at a club here in the A (I was drunk too, but lol..) I felt terrible after seeing that. Thank God someone was looking after him and he'll get a large sum of money in the future. With both he and Mike Vick, I think they should've totally left the Hampton/Newport News area alone once they got big. They had "friends" from their respective cities drag them down. One reason I'm glad that Cam isn't here in College Park like that too often. He does a lot for his hometown, but sometimes you have to do that at a distance. I feel the same about my hometown of Winston. There's some folks here who'll drag him down if he let them.

AI and Cam are friends, and I believe the fact they've experienced similar paths is what connected them. AI was looked at as too hip hop/urban for the NBA, and Cam is looked at the same way in the NFL.

I would see AI in Wet willies a lot drunk.  When he was in Detroit, I think he was banned from the casino. Nobody around him, except Gary the manager, would tell him no. They rode his coat tails. When I found out he ruined the family Disney World vacation because he was drunk and his wife had to sit in the truck with him while he sobered up, I was devasted. Cam has had the same friends since little league football and no one in his crew are real troublemakers. In a lot of ways, they're all square including Cam lol. I know Cam doesn't drink but his friends do and I've never seen them wasted.

I think their experiences helped him and AI bond, definitely and AI is there to say use me as an example. Cam is definitely ushering in a new era in football and they can't stand it. If he stays grounded, which I'm sure he will, he will be alright.

Cam and Iverson had completely different child hoods that shaped who they are. Sons need their fathers to be good role models. When Dad isn't around or he just flat out sucks, kids look outside the household for that figure. Sometimes they find good substitutes, but often times they find crap that makes things even worse. AI and Vick had crap in the household and probably found crap outside of it too.

And yes, I'm a proud black father/role model to two black sons. I would never leave their fate to the hood.

I totally agree with that. I was speaking more to the stumbling blocks, media hating you, older fans hating you because they don't understand you. But you are absolutely correct. Kids need dads, especially little black boys. AI had some good subs in Coach Thompson and even Gary but I think the trash he brought with him from the old neighborhood trumped all of it. Cam has had his dad every step of the way, and it shows in how he handles situations and people.

Need more like this.

That Disney story is sad. My dad, good man and father, was an alcoholic. It was, to me, his only flaw. My moms had to do similar with him. I'll never forget my pop coming to see me at my college dorm, and he was drunk as a skunk. Mom had tried to keep him in the car, but he refused. I was embarrassed. I grew up knowing that after 8pm, if I needed him I was sh*t out of luck because by that time he'd be lost in the sauce.

Lol you're right about Cam and his crew being square. My girl grew up with all them and said that exact thing. Also, Cecil is a great father. He made sure Cam didn't waiver.

you mean like Russell Wilson?

when asked today about Cam Newton's comments, Wilson said "If I didn't want to get hit, I would've played tennis".

just in case you needed a reason to hate Russell Wilson anymore.

If he doesn't want to get hit, he needs to shut the fug up.
