Now that the playoffs are out of reach and the offensive line is in a huge mess, lets talk about combinations you would be curious in seeing. 

For me, I would love to see Norwell at left tackle. 

Norwell is 6-6 and looks every bit the part of a left tackle. 6'6, long ass arms, 310 pounds. 

Considering how well and often he pulls, the Panthers must know he has quick feet. Norwell has left tackle experience at Ohio State where he started numerous games at the position. The guy has done nothing but prove he can handle anything thrown at him so far, so why not throw a bit more with no pressure, just for shits and giggles? 

Remember, Norwell would have never even had a shot at playing to begin with until an injury forced Rivera's hand.

Normally I'd say inside/outside are different skill sets, but at this point?  Aaaaah hell, why not?

It's getting tougher and tougher  to find good tackles these days anyway.  Never know.  A converted guard might work.

Hell, early in the team's existence, one of our best tackles was a converted tight end.

Travelle Wharton started as a solid guard and played very well at tackle. Its been done before.

We should put Mike Tolbert on the line for poos and giggles. I'd rather see him on the line than seeing him at running back.

Also, let us take into account his disposition. Off the field he is a quiet introvert. On the field he is one mean mother fugger. I happen to love that in a left tackle.

Part of me wonders if that'll be a trend in future seasons because tackle play at the college level right now is mostly garbage.

The spread / air raid / whatever type systems they're running in so much of the college game just don't translate well to the pro level so tackles are taking longer to develop.

He was an offensive lineman first as that is what he was recruited to UCLA as. played tackle his freshman year

If Norwell could make a smooth transition to Left Tackle, which IMO I think he could big bodied tall long armed MEAN offensive lineman all the qualities you need, that would also give us some breathing room and seek a guard in the draft which there are some good ones you could get in the 2nd and 3rd round of this years draft.

I like this idea. How about we do the same with the Offensive Coordinator position and give Dorsey a shot?

 

I mean he's good with Cam and he exceeds the IQ of a potato. I think he would do a swell job.
