I think the Jets and Bears will win two more and we'll pick fourth - unless Jacksonville wins three of four and we pick third.

Regardless it's another fuging throwback year where most of the year's excitement is spent perusing WalterFootball in April and then from Draft Day to the final whistle in Week 17, disappointment. I can't stress enough how much this season reminds me of 2001. it is unfathomable.

Our record is definitely better and the talent is FAR better but the lackadaisical attitudes, God-awful GM/coaching combos, swiss cheese defense, one-yard-and-a-cloud-of-dust-plus-a-holding-penalty offense and Olindo Mare Beta Version at kicker all just reminds me of 2001. It was a team that refused to win. This one is a bunch of prima donnas and chronic underachievers mixed in with about 25 guys whose chances of eating through a straw in 20 years increased exponentially (thanks Roger, you fuging bitch)

S is still a big need for the Panthers.

You want to play young DBs who by their nature make tons of assignment/call mistakes....then you put quality S behind them.

Boston needs to be replaced ASAP.  He just adds to the problem.

Who would hold the tiebreaker between us, SF and CLE? 49ers and Browns play bad teams or teams with little to prove from here on out. If we all go 4-12 could we pick first?

The team with the lower SOS picks first in the event of a tie. Here is the current

I updated the OP with current SOS.  I found a much more accurate source, so things changed

I would be lying if i said i wasn't a little excited about getting a top 15 pick. the last time we did that we got cam, luke, and star. picking at the end has just not worked out for us and last night was a big indication plus refusing to sign any FA worth poo. we need another game changing player.

although it pains me say that we will most likely end up with a top 10 pick, even a top 5 pick... The teams ahead of us are in desperate need for a QB meaning guys like Myles Garrett and Jonathan Allen could be a in play here which would have a huge impact on our team.  No top 10 tackles IMO. and Why draft a RB if there are no Offensive Line improvements in the offseason.  Now if you go out in FA and boost the OL then yes drafting a Fournette or a Dalvin Cook makes sense.  I think with Worley and Bradberry coming into their own, one more offseason of work may have Gettleman thinking yet again lets go Defense in 1st round.  And at this point I see why.  DE or Safety (Jamal Adams).

It's basically a guarantee we will pick fourth at worst

Go Jets tonight!!!  Also, the Jets and Rams play the 49ers so losing out and a top 5 pick is a STRONG possibility.  While NO Panther fan should hope for wins, the Saints and Chargers strength of schedule and the Bengals playing the Browns give some cushion at the 7 spot for now.

Browns, 9ers, and Bears might all be targeting QBs. A lot of people have the Jags taking the top LT in the draft.

Or this could be one of those years where no QB goes in the first 5 picks.  Seems like a week class so far.  Hopefully I'm wrong.

Even if one goes in the top 5 that could still mean that Fournette, Garrett, Allen, Peppers, and Adams could be off the board by the time we pick. This place will have a meltdown when we end up picking Reuben Foster.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
