TE: Jordan Leggett

Recommended Posts

G-Man should use the 3rd round comp. pick along with future picks to move up and get either an extra 1st or 2nd round pick, use FA to solve DEs & Secondary issues.

A Macky Award finalist, Leggett is a well rounded TE that has the potential to make immediate impact on a team. Built like a TE at 6'-5" 260 lbs with proportional build, Leggett has the   ability to create separation in routes to beat man coverage & instincts smiliar to Olsen to find the soft spots in zone coverage. A natural hand catcher with long arms, Leggett has great range to be a chain mover. He is an adequte blocker that has the ability to improve as he grows into his body after NFL conditioning.

1st round - RB/OT

2nd round- TE/RB

3rd round- DE/WR

4th round- S/DE

Move J-Stew into FB/RB for  pass protection, dump-off, & short yardage while rookie HB takes on the carries. This allows you to keep your best players on the field at all time while providing Cam with more weapons to attack the defense various ways with the wishbone formation

Clemson_logo.gif Jordan Leggett, TE, Clemson
Height: 6-5. Weight: 250.
Projected 40 Time: 4.73.
Projected Round (2017): 2-3.

12/3/16: On the season, Leggett has 34 catches for 588 yards with five scores. He is a well-rounded tight end who looks like he has three-down potential for the NFL.

7/30/16: Leggett was a good contributor for the Tigers' point-machine offense in 2015. He totaled 40 receptions for 525 yards and eight touchdowns. It was a breakout year for the junior as he didn't produce close to that as a sophomore (14-161-1) or freshman (12-176-2). Leggett also chipped in as a blocker. He has the capacity to rise as a senior.

With a lot of mouths to feed on the offense, Leggett doesn't have gaudy stats on his pro resume, but he is such a valuable resource for Deshaun Watsonand Tigers. With 38 catches this season, he is two receptions shy of last year's total. That said, he has been a more dynamic weapon after the catch in 2016, averaging 16.8 yards per grab (up from 13.1 last year).

Against Virginia Tech, Leggett's package of skills were on display with the route acceleration to win man coverage and the size and ball skills to pluck fastballs from the air. He isn't an overwhelming blocker, but does a great job extending his long arms and delivering a pop at contact to get defenders off-balance. Leggett recorded his first multi-touchdown game against the Hokies with a pair of scores, including one lined up outside as a receiver where he was able to gain a step of separation on a post route and Watson delivered a strike for six. In a stocked tight end class, Leggett secured himself as a Day 2 prospect capable of starter reps as a rookie.

There's some pretty good TE's in this draft. OJ Howard, Leggett, Hikutini, Hodges, Jake Butt just to name a few. I do think we could upgrade RB and 2TE with later(ish) picks. The bad news is, IMO, this draft has very few good OL and 4-3 DE's. Those positions are probably where an upgrade would make the biggest impact (although counting on a rookie to make an immediate impact at any position is a different story in itself). Adding a two way TE would help a lot though at both blocking and receiving.

I sincerely hope we draft some players that will be contributors on offesne this season. Last draft the panthers went all out on defense and we had a shitty season . I would not be surprised if its almost all defense again. I just want a couple of dominant OTs to replace Remmers and Oher, the middle of our line is good and all these fuging strip sacks come from outside pressure we need at least 1 high caliber OT in the 1st or 2nd and then sign a good one in FA which will not happen but I wish to god it would.

Funny how a lot of the "deep" drafts work out in the end. A lot of that depth ends up not panning out.

Not every draft pick is going to live up to the hype. That's just how it goes. But you can play the game and take your chances on a "deep" position group or can reach for a crappy prospect that's a need.

IMO, this draft will also be full of a lot of meh QB's whose ceiling is somewhere around a Derek Anderson (assuming they're developed properly) but they will get (and are getting) overhyped and taken higher than they should. Watson is the only one I see having the potential of being very good.

Or, just take the best prospects and don't get caught up in trying to predict how the draft board will fall.

Watson is a bust. This QB class is awful. Trubisky might be the real deal, but you're still rolling the dice on only one season.

I agree with the first part. Just saying, I think even if they go a route that doesn't get a RB or TE that there is a good chance they can still upgrade later on in the draft. Not go in with the strategy to fill those spots with a later pick but that there's a better chance to upgrade those spots later than most others.

I can't stand Watson but he has legit talent. If he gets thrown in right away Idk if he'll be any good. If he can go somewhere that gives him time to learn and develop I think he has the tools to be great. He makes some of the most accurate passes I've ever seen...at times. Trubisky is about as meh as it gets for me. Nothing that really stands out. He's the first guy I think of when I think Derek Anderson ceiling. I may be wrong but that's my opinion.

Don't want. Has no play strength. Mediocre blocker. We already have one tight that isn't much of a blocker. Kelvin Benjamin and Funchess are basically tight ends. We would have the slowest receiving core in the league ...

Any tight end we add needs to be a great blocker to justify having him on the field.

Doubt it, he is a better blocker than everyone you  mentioned and will get better.

Funchess shoud be traded and make roof for a small shifter  WR
