No fine for Harry Douglas

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Titans (and former Falcons) receiver Harry Douglas was not fined, suspended or otherwise disciplined by the NFL for the dive he took at the knees of Broncos CB Chris Harris.

Not Panthers related, you say?

I beg to differ.

Cam Newton has taken some pretty egregious hits this season and they've gone largely unpunished. But the shot Douglas took at Harris was easily one of the worst things I've seen this season.

Karma for the Broncos? Maybe. But it brings up a question.

If the NFL won't even punish that, then what can we expect to happen the next time someone takes a shot at our quarterback, or any other player for that matter?

The league is out of control with what they're allowing goons to get away with. And frankly, I'm pretty disgusted by it.

What i don't get is how people are saying its a legal hit? I was watching a sports show where they were saying that he made the play all by the rule book.

It was legal.  You can play dirty and legal.  Most players would never dream of taking that shot.  Most respect the game enough and profession enough to not go for a guys knees....knees are the biggest concern to most guys.  Cam probably would choose a headshot over a knee shot

Even if you don't like Talib this just allows an open season on players across the league...we don't want or need that...

Well what was illegal about it? It was dirty as hell but how can the league punish a low block?  He hit him from the front.

Knees aren't off limits

As we have seen the league can do what it wants...fine him and let the players Assoc deal with it...

The NFL is a league that has sanctioned Thursday night football, pushed for 18 games seasons, and shied away from CTE- what makes you think they care about player safety? The NFL is a business, and operate accordingly to that principle: $Money$. I am a Panthers fan- not a fan of the league. I loved when Al Davis stuck it to the league when he was alive. It's kind of ridiculous that we have the shield at midfield when the League could care less. This will continue so you might as well get used to it.

Still have to state what the fine is for...

I'm not defending the NFL.  There isn't a way to call it an illegal hit.  But no player wants to take that shot
