Matt Ryan and the Falcons are an exact example of what a change of offensive identity can produce

Anyone else find it ironic that OP is touting Falcons o-coordinator because Ryan is in the conversation for MVP, while we need to replace Shula, when Cam actually won the MVP under Shula.

Shula honestly didn't have much to do with that, all of 2015 was Cam playing out of his head. Either way that's not very relevant right now imo. Ryan had some terrific years under the Smith regime, but eventually hit a wall from a progression and production standpoint. Same thing could be happening with Cam and our O unit right now. Our offense was just pathetic down the stretch. Teams have adjusted to it and Adjusted to Shula's schemes, he's failed to do anything in response

Sure.  Throw out all the superlatives you want about Cam but fact is he won MVP under Shula.  Cam regressed this year primarily for 3 reasons.  O-line was a mess, defense couldn't stop anybody, he was injured most of the year (not talking only about his shoulder), I think he was suffering from a concussion starting from the Denver game.

We will see. It take a year to expose teams just like ours got exposed. The Falcons have taken advantage of bad teams this year and are not even close to the record we were last year.

Don't you understand WHY we got exposed?  If your o-line is poo I don't care if you have Jerry Rice, Terrell Owens, and Barry Sanders...you're getting your ass handed to you.

Of course this thread turns into poo talking the Falcons, who have a historically good offense and absolutely look like contenders.

The main point I'm trying to make is that a new OC helped spring Matt Ryan into the form of his life.  Sure, having Julio and a great OL helps too but the man has thrown TD's to 13 different guys this year.  Some people thought the Falcons should move on and now he looks like the MVP, and this can mainly be credited to bringing in a new offensive coordinator.

They are a balanced team thanks to their version of Double Trouble.

Both have good power & speed to pound a defense then stretches it out as  receivers

The WRSs are excellent blockers & more fundamentally sound

Its not always about size more so the versatility of a player to attack defense in multiple ways.

Yall have to chill with the one and done posts, fug around and seriously jinx the hell of it

Either way OP is right. Carolina got too content with winning a weak division and isn't doing the things necessary to get us back to the SB and winning it.

Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
