PFF - Shaq Thompson Ranked 12th Best LB

Don't let anyone tell you Shaq Thompson was bad this year.

Ignore the part about Bradberry for now, and take the time to note of Shaq's role.

Shaq Thompson, probably getting maybe 1/2 the snaps if lucky, has been impactful this season. PFF just helps note of how much of a difference he makes. With Thomas Davis looking like 2017 may be truly his last season (God forbid - by far my favorite player,) Shaq Thompson is rounding out to be a real solid pick.

As a note of how much of an impact he's made, check out this one nice play:

Shaq Thompson does his due diligence, shakes away a tackle like he were nothing, then goes in to slam the RB.

An athletic and strong play.

These kind of plays show how much of an impact he's had on this defense. Whether you think that pick was worth it or not, it's nice knowing we probably have one of the deepest and best LB corps in the league.

Then when TD likely retires next year, who will back him up?

Somebody that could take his spot.  Land Collins is a damn All-Pro RIGHT NOW!  It doesn't matter.  If Landon Collins was on this team, we don't win just 6 games.  As many problems as Boston had this year.  Yeesh.

Meanwhile, Landon Collins is an All-Pro.  But don't worry guys, Shaq will be good eventually.  LOLZ.

lol half this board would have sprinted to the podium to draft dorial green-beckham with our first that year

considering the entire league passed on collins in the first you can say that 32 times

That's cool.  But we needed a Safety that year too.....so......

instead of drafting a position of need.  He Drafted a fuging linebacker.

You do realize Landon Collins rookie season was, well, crap - right?

last year’s first-round pick, Landon Collins, had the lowest coverage grade of any NFL safety, while the other position is still up in the air without a proven option on the roster.

He surprisingly broke out, which is good for him.

This draft has better safety prospects anyhow. Quit whining.

it looks stupid now but nobody cared in 2015 because kurt coleman had 9 7 INTs or whatever

do you want a lollipop for proving you can look at a draft two years later and pick out who the good players were or something

I mean, Landon Collins would've helped tremendously this year.  And that year, it was a position of need.  As I stated before.  He Drafted a fuging linebacker.  Not a position of need, not a player that's being utilized on the majority of the plays. But a fuging linebacker.

    • when we drafted Bryce Young that team might have been more talented than the team we currently have ?  that was the whole reasoning behind morgagting  our immediate future to trade up to #1 overall for BY. our front offices & owners felt like hey guess what the time is now to srike while the iron is hot go hire an All Star coaching staff we were only a Qb away from taking that next step ..just saying
    • I just dont get the worry over losing a practice squad player that just went undrafted. Everyone just made their selections. The chances of a team wanting to sign him to an active roster after not selecting him is very low.  If that interested they would have taken him late to evaluate in person. As far as I can tell two qbs were signed off another teams practice squad last season and they were both going in to their 5th season.
    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
