This is a good question. I dont like every move gman has made but I love his cap management and i believe up until last offseason he made good moves. Ego and overconfidence got in the way this last offseason. How Gman bounces back this year will be important.

 

Im more critical of Shula because I believe he is holding Cam back and wasting the prime years of a once in a generation QB! I believe change Shula with a better OC and we can maximize Cam's Talent. Look what Kly Shananan did with matt ryan...ugh.

 

Changing a GM is a huge change and officially starts a rebuild.

 

Just changing an OC happens all the time. Shula is only around due to his name and the loyalty of our management and he is resting of the laurels of 1 season.

I'm just curious, are you aware that when Rivera got his extension last year, that Shula also received a raise?

Yes im aware, a super bowl season will do that for you. I was still critical of shula in 2015.

I believe we should've rebuilt the oline. Shula takes some flack because of how he makes plays to put Cam in harm due to the oline woes and plays take too long to develop and before they do the line has already collapsed and Cam doesnt have time. Saying that we rebuild the oline and get some good pieces which we already have in Kalil Turner and Norwell.  Otah was missing all season and Remmers was the weakest link. We get oline straight Cam has time, Shula looks like a genius and everybody is happy.

Replacing Shula will. Whether he stays or goes ill still will keep pounding for our Panthers. Im not fairweather and always cheer hard. Shula isnt the worst OC nor the best, I consider him avg. I just want us to get over the hump and bring that first Lombardi home and some times small changes are needed. Hell the ravens ditched their OC mid season and won a super bowl. Holding on to past glory wont help us. In the NFL if your arent improving you are getting worse.

That's why we have backups. They can plug the occasional holes that will crop up during the season. However, a team is limited by roster spots and the overall talent pool. Could our backups have been of better quality? Possibly but I'm not sure what is someone supposed to do if the backups also get injured. A scheme can try and hide weaknesses but they can still be exploited if the opponent can simply overpower it with talent.

I will reiterate once more than replacing Shula simply gives us a different set of strenghts and weaknesses. I've experienced the offenses of Dan Henning, Jeff Davidson and Rob Chudzinski and the one thing they all had in common is that there was always a set of people here that wanted them fired. Whoever succeeds Shula will eventually join them.

If Shula and KB is matched together, its best to just let Cam audible every single play and do his own thing. Shula seems to struggle with number 1 receivers, Steve Smith/KB

I give Shula about as much credit for last year as I give Chud for Cam's rookie season. Think the rest of the league agrees and that's why no one's rushing to repeat that mistake.

Mike Shula has one great coaching year out of how many? He was horrible in Alabama, and Tampa. Excluding the amazing 2015 season our offense has looked very mediocre. Why is Ron Rivera so loyal to him? Are they lovers or something. Does Mike have personal and private info on Ron? Because there is no way a NFL head coach that want would want him calling and designing plays for his team. I just don't get it.
