Summer 2017 Transfer Season

Manchester City are still interested in signing Alexis Sanchez...  Manchester City projected to spend around $400M in this transfer window alone.  Mind blowing.

The worst part...  City are buying player who worth only 60% of what they pay.  Basically, people know City can pay that money so teams charge City premium..  Walker only worth around 30M, Mendy not even worth 30M, Alexis is going to be 29 in few months and worth maybe 35M max.

Marca reporting that Madrid and Monaco have agreed to a 180m Euro deal (160 plus 20 in variables) for Kylian Mbappe Lottin. Mbappe would sign a six year contract, that would pay him 7m Euros annually. FWIW, Monaco have denied that an agreement has been made to a French paper, but not that they are discussing the transfer w Madrid. Either way, I would be pretty surprised at this point if Mbappe wasn't at the very least property of Madrid come August 31. Still think there's a very small chance he gets loaned back to Monaco for a year, but my guess is he plays in the first team for Madrid.

Woke up to Mbappe to RM for €180M.... Sheesh.

Inflation is real. Coutinho may go for over 80m pounds, Naby Keita while amazing, seems to be untouchable (even for 80m pounds), Dembele 100 plus, etc etc. Multiple clubs think Mbappe is a generational talent along the lines of Henry. He's going to cost a lot.

If Madrid pays 160M pounds for 18 year old, they are stupid.

If he turns into the next Henry they're playing the long game better than any other club. Don't be jelly, Arsen.

Lol... I'm not jelly.  You want to pay €180M for one year wonder and mortgage the entire team future, be my guest. Prior to last year, Mbappe had only 1 professional goal.  He's a project and not a proven product.  You do not pay €180M for "IF he turns into".  You pay €180M for WHEN he turns into.  "IF" is a gambling based on hopes and dreams.

City has had some misfires with signings in the past but they needed to completely replace the fullbacks. And since every team knows they are willing to pay, they pay a premium for players. Hopefully the moves work out and there won't be a need to splurge again in the next transfer window.

    • Yep he made the comment " I dont know what they were doing out there at that point" in the press conference. Let's be real they all got paid but they also know his system suppresses there offensive potential.
    • Yup the casuals on Facebook ive gotten 85 laughing or angry emojis so far for pointing it out.  The amount of them throwing a fit because the canes were booed is insane
    • Why are you so fixated on yards? Even if yards were a good judge of QB play, his low yardage totals in some of those games were partly a function of drops (looking at you Xavier Leggette…).  I’m not advocating that Bryce was elite for the last half of last year, but the eye test certainly supported high level QB play for large stretches. He made a lot of high difficulty, put it on the money/drop in the bucket throws. He converted on 3rd and 4th down, kept drives moving, and put the team in position to win games. And it’s not on him that the defense blew it late after he led game tying drives, Leggette dropped a game winning TD, or Chuba fumbled the ball in OT. We could have finished the season close to .500 with wins against 3 playoff teams including KC and Philly during that stretch largely due to Bryce’s play.    Has he sustained this level of play long enough to deserve an higher ranking? No. But for judging based in that stretch alone, he would. But whether he can perform more consistently at that level or build on that, and thus earns a higher ranking, remains to be seen.
