Love me some KK and havnt been on the grab Berry train.

Now im all aboard it. Digging in it, it would be better off for us.
We DO still need to franchise KK reguardless for the 1 year rental even if we get Berry. Butler jusy isnt there yet. We have 4 more years of Butler and he plays the same Rush Tackle spot as KK. Most people who have been here for a bit know that Star is more important to lock up and is the key to this DL. Just doesnt get the credit. Heck there was one source quoting Atlanta's OL just a year ago saying Star was the toughest DL to defend on our team.

Now to the #s is the big reason I changed my tune. Fletcher Cox killed us last year. KK will be going for that type $$$. Cox is getting 17.1 mil a year
DTs as a whole cost much more $$$ reguardless.
Suh is getting 19 mil
The top 4 highest paid DTs are making more than 15Mil and the top 8 are making atleast 10

The highest paid Safety is Honey Badger who got a mega deal making 12.5 mil
Now i dont quite think Berry will get that. Berry will be turning 29 this year
After that only 2 other safeties are making over 10 (besides Berrys franchise) and both of those are under 11

So Berry will cost probably a good 5 mil less than KK. And when Turner is going to cost about 8 or so and we still need to lock up Star and Norwell. That savings will be big espicially when we have Butler sitting there.

People are overvaluing Butler he really hasn't shown  much besides 2 FG blocks, and was terrible in Run blocking.

KK needs to be a Panther atleast this season, otherwise it will be 2016 all again, but the front 7 breaking down.

Tag KK for 2017 & sign Berry.

I think having KK tagged in 17 almost goes without saying.

I almost hope that Berry isn't available.

Signing Berry could impact our ability to spend the money needed to address LT via Free agency.

Considering the talent available to replace Tackle vs Safety, and the impact of each position... I have to hope we continue in the DG way and go with a mid level vet at SS... or just keep our secondary as is.

That said,

If DG signs Berry and Reiff while Tagging KK in the process, I will 100% believe he is committed to fielding a superbowl caliber team.

Run blocking? He plays defense.

Would you rather have KK or Joe Staley and Nick Fairley in 2017?  In theory you could have the latter for nearly the same price.  Granted, a day 2 pick (I even said 40 overall), may be necessary to ensure the 49ers part ways with Staley (I also would ask for our 2018 4th back as well), but it's feasible.  Not to mention that although Staley's 2017 hit is $11, his 2018 and 2019 hits come down to a relative steal of $7.7.

I just am sick of having a stop gap LT... the 2nd reason I'm behind Reiff is his age (first, obviously is his ability to stay relatively healthy).

I would like a piece to plug in for the next 5-6 years. Give Cam some piece of mind in his prime.
