Cam Robinson at RT?

Would this be a bad move if we were able to bring in a FA LT?  No one seems to be sold on him as an elite LT, but I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned him starting at RT..at least until he adjusts to the NFL and then move him to the left side when/if he's ready?  It would be nice to have a tackle that can move people, especially in the running game, which needs help.  We may be able to improve the run game and pass protection with one pick, which are two of our biggest issues.  My only issue is if he is only a career RT, would that be worth the #8 overall pick?  Basically, it's the same issue I have with taking Fournette at number 8.  There might be more valuable positions to take if there's a stud sitting out there.  I just really hate taking a RB early in the first round.  Especially in a class that's deep at the position.

Just because the class is deep doesn't mean all of the prospects fits out scheme, there maybe couple of handful of RBs that would make a impact on this team.

Fournette would be BPA and fill a need.

He'll go mid to late first, which is way too early for him.

I would put him at RT in the NFL, because he isn't great at all in pass protection. I would be okay with the Panthers drafting him, but not before the third round. He'll be gone by then... taken by some desperate team way too early hoping for an LT.

Picking Cam Robinson at 8 would be reaching! If we for some reason moved down to about the 12-15  spot, then Cam Robinson would be a good fit even to play RT.

After looking at some recent OT rankings, i realized i made a bad post.  I didn't realize Cam Robinson dropped in the tackle rankings.

No worries!! I had him as the top OT in this draft at the beginning of the season but now not so much just as most people have. He could have a huge drop ala Aaron Rodgers did when he came out. But that did turn out quite well for the Packers though!!

He probably can and very well may start out there. Jordan Gross did. But, #8 overall is a steep price to pay for a guy if you project him as a RT. Then again, if we had a legit RT in 2015, we probably have a Lombardi Trophy in the case so there's that too.

My  issues with Robinson are two fold. One, his pass protection is a mess. He has all the physical tools in the world, but his technique just isn't that great. Seems like a lot of Bama OTs come out that way and it probably has a lot to do with their style of play. They really pound the ball so for the most part those guys are simply focusing on mauling the guy in front of them and they do that really damn well. It's just that the Von Millers and Khalil Macks in the NFL are by you and gone before you can maul them if your technique isn't up to snuff.

Two, there's the off the field stuff and for the Panthers, that might be enough to not even have him on our draft board.

I've heard all of the arguments for Fournette.  I'm just against taking any RB, no matter how good, that early. Just my opinion.

I've realized this was a terrible post and can be removed or ignored.

Everyone values the position differently I'm the opposite, I don't  think there is value for Safety and DE at 8 I'm on RB/TE camp.

    • He's a hard player to rank, cause he is a young NT. I do see his abilities to branch out among the DL. That's the only way for him to land in the 1st, some team has to believe he's got the stuff to play DE or T3.... I just don't see using 19 on him, I feel there should be around 7 players just ranked higher than him for the Panthers team.  ___________________________________________________________________   Now you are a roster nut like me. Im tossing this into fire, I think a good move is to trade UP, yes rare. Just the roster #s tell me 5 rookies and no more than 2 starters will make the team. I feel 5 is magic number.    QB- 2  BY, Pickett RB- 3   Chubba, Brooks(pls), etienne TE- 4   Sanders, Temble, Evans, Draft pick/major/franks/UDFA OL- 10   Walker, Lewis, Fortner, Hunt, Motown, Zavailla, Samac, Stone, Draft pick, Draft pick/Charles/carter WR-  6   Tmac, XL, Coker, Metch, Horn, Tremay   offense=  25 with 3 draft picks   DL-  6   Brown, Brown, Wharton, Ray, Cam, Hunter/draft pick Ed-   5  Phillips, Nic, Prince, Jones, ST/incoom/hampton ILB-   5  Lloyd, Wallace, Bam, Claud, draft pick CB-    5 Horn, Jackson, Thor, Evans, draft pick/CSN/UDFA SS-  4  Scott, More, Ramsom, Sim   Defense = 25 with 3 picks   ST = known 3+o+d = 53 roster   SO I see only room for 5-6 with factoring in UDFA pool. That tells me to trade up! Bonus the 1st+3rd gets in front of TB yucs. Then use one of the 5ths+2nd to draft another target. That's your two starters and use the 4th, 5th and 6th for the development OTs and what ever the best player are at the pick/DB. The last couple years they have added 2-3 UDFA each year, maybe the same this year too. Soooooooo Im normally 95% trade back, but above made me change my mind. I do not want to waive 5th rounder, I feel thats high with players on the bench.    ??
