The best Panther

I know everyone is focusing on players but the original question did not specifily state player. So I'm going with Mike McCormack. There would not even be a Carolina Panthers if it wasn't for McCormack and the help and guidence that he provided to Richardson during the process of getting a team in Carolina and as GM and team president during the early years. Lets not forget that it was McCormack who assembled a team of players and coaches that were able to start its first two seasons 7-9 and then 12-4 as an expansion team.

McCormack is the most underapprechiated Panther in our short history and will probably only grow more understated as time goes by. I'm really glad he was inducted into the Hall of Honor and at least that will give fans in the future a reminder of the amazing work he did here.

I was gonna make a joke about Butcher but when I did an image search with his name all I got were pictures of some kid (child actor I guess).

Nobody'd mistake this kid for Dr. Psycho's ugly mug

Funny you should say that. Paul Butcher (the child actor) is the son of "Dr. Pyscho" Paul Butcher Sr.

No lie...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Butcher_Sr.

There are some pretty good ones

Mike Minter- Was a great player, leader, and had the talent to back it up.

Dan Morgan- I know not a popular choice. But when the man was on the field he was the perfect MLB. When he played the defense changed.

Right now on this team I think Beason the is the best panther. Enormous talent with leadership qualities, has intensity and the drive to do better. And now we are starting to see the same with Davis.

I would say Smitty but I think the fights he has had takes him off the list. However talent/player wise Smith is the best panther.

    • Was just reading the Ask the Old Guy story on the team's website and was shocked to see that only two 2nd Rounders have signed so far, 30 of them haven't. That isn't normal, the Texans really screwed things up for the rest of the league, no other explanation that I can think of for 30 of the 32 picks to still be unsigned at this point.
    • They need to address CB before season starts. This is not going to cut it.
    • Except it wouldn't be Rodgers leading them on a postseason run, it would be the defense and he's there to not screw up their great games. Which is why..... This times a million. I didn't watch a ton of the Jets last year, but from what I did see, Rodgers himself didn't look like a bum, the team just struggled and was more than likely due to poor coaching on the whole.  The Steelers don't need MVP level Rodgers to win games, they just need him to be good enough to make some plays when it matters because the defense is keeping them in games every week regardless. In their 7 losses last season, the Steelers scored 10, 13, 17, 17, 17, 19, and 24... while giving up 19, 20, 24, 27, 27, 29, and 34 in those games.  With only marginally better offense last year, they probably end up winning a few more games too. They only scored over 27 points in 3 games last season. I think this is a great move by the Steelers and if Rodgers can stay healthy all year, will get them back into the playoffs and could make some noise if their defense is up to the normal level of a Steelers defense.
