How many TDs does McC score?

  1. 1. TDs?

Total touchdowns, including returns, rushing and receiving. Do we think Shula can get the ball in this kids hands in the open space enough for him to take a couple to the house or more? Obviously, McC isn't a goal line back but I think he could have a bigger impact in scoring than we think. Seems like most have been looking at him as a yards gainer rather than touchdown scorer, but DG has alluded to many times valuing touchdown scorers and I can't imagine him taking an offensive skill player top 10 without believing he'll score a lot of touchdowns.

Personally I see 12.

1 return TD (should have more but he'll have to overcome the rest of our ST struggles to even get one)

6 receiving TDs (4 within the redzone, I think he'll be utilized in the slot quite a bit here)

5 rushing TDs (all outside the redzone)

Already a write-up by Mike Clay of ESPN.com. I'd be totally satisfied with those numbers.

No. 8: RB Christian McCaffrey to Carolina Panthers

Cam Newton has a new counterpart in the Panthers' backfield with Stanford's McCaffrey. He was about as good as it gets during his time in red and white -- and at April's combine. He produced a whopping 2,327 all-purpose yards last year. Super elusive and athletic, McCaffrey dominated the vertical, three-cone short shuttle and 60-yard dash in Indianapolis. He's only 20 years old and will immediately contribute as a rusher, receiver and returner. Jonathan Stewart had his contract extended through 2018 but will clearly settle into a reduced role. It's actually a good one-two punch, with McCaffrey more of a scatback than a strong asset in short yardage. McCaffrey should immediately be viewed as an RB2, especially in PPR formats, and there's room for more if Carolina features him in the pass game.

Rookie-season projection: 196 carries, 880 yards, 6 TDs; 49 receptions, 454 yards, 2 TDs

Anytime nctarheel0619 goes low, I go high. 16+ boom

For some reason now my crazy homer glasses are coming on and I think McC is going to rush for 2000 yards one year while still on his rookie deal. Plus like 500 receiving yards plus the same year. Top Chris Johnson's record.

That may be true but that averages out to be about 12-13 carries a game.

Right but i see more jet sweeps than hand offs so idk if he gets that many carries a game.

Touches? Now that's possible. Stew who knows the system and been around only barely avgs 15 a game.

Someone boommark nctarheel0619's faithless response because it is going to be good by end of the season when crow is served lol

I don't think he'll get as many opportunities with Stewart and Fozzie around.

If CMC doesn't play the majority of snaps between both Stew and Fozzy, then this whole coaching staff and FO better get canned for completely wasting the #8 pick.

    • Cards weren't really blitzing that much the entire game.  The ones they sent just wrecked Bryce.  My opinion is you are over fixated on what happened as we got close to the goal.   The one possession we had in the 3rd quarter? That was a freebie to get down there.  It was literally just checkdowns to the TE when we weren't running the ball down... 24 taking up the entire quarter.  Next quarter Cards were inviting the exact same behavior.  Which is why they were both clock eating small ball 14 play drives.
    • I don't think they changed as much as you think between the INT and the final sack (immediate pressure with 4 linemen). They definitely stopped blitzing as much, if a blitz means rushing more than the front 4/5. They definitely did some exotic packages where they sent LBs/DBs and dropped linemen into coverage though. The fumble and INT were both blitzes. And yes they were successful. And yes, I agreed with Bryce not taking care of the ball. Really not many answers on those plays - just take the sack and live another play (unless you're Lamar). Which he didn't do. And no, you can't run prevent on the goal line. What's prevent defense to you? Alignment, personnel, cushion, etc.? Just curious. My reply was to the post that they sat back in some soft zone the whole game - until the end, when it mattered. That's not true. They blitzed, they disguised coverages and blitzers, they pressed, they bailed, they covered the flats, all of that. Not trying to argue. Just trying to inform. Actually they only blitzed once on the final drive, and the DB got away with a bad hold on Tremayne. Otherwise looked like it would have been a completion for a first down. The Cardinals' final drive defense looked a lot like the rest of the game.  I know it's easy to get upset after a lose (I'm guilty), but Mondays are when cooler heads prevail. Right? Emotions can make us seem like we don't know what we're talking about. The Huddle isn't supposed to be that. I always saw it as a place to go discuss the Carolina Panthers with more than the casual fan, and their emotionally charged opinions. I can get that at the local grocery store, where they don't know anything about NC/SC, let alone the Panthers.
