Panthers sign three tryouts (but not who you're expecting)

Carolina Panthers @Panthers

The #Panthers have signed three tryout players! DT Gabriel Mass LB Kyle Kragen LB Alex Bazzie

Nice to see Greg Kragen's kid earn a shot.

Mind you, they could still sign Marvin Bracy, but any further signings will come with a corresponding cut.

Possible they may want to get a further medical evaluation on him.

Does Bracy have an injury history of any kind?

He reportedly"tweaked" something (possibly his back) and was limited on day two.

The Panthers could still sign him, of course. They might just wanna check his injury out first.

Or they may think he's an injury risk and not bother.

Bracy sucks. He's fast but can't catch and can't run routes.

Had a nagging groin injury leading up to and during the Olympics last year. Still ran 10.1 but he may have problems with soft tissue injuries.

Definitely thought we would give a chance in camp as a gunner. Normally he'd be useful as a PS guy too just to imitate ridiculous speed but we do have a few that can fill that role already.

I got curious whether Greg Kragen & Ed McCaffrey had overlapped during their playing years for the Broncos...  Not quite.  Kragen ended with the Broncos in 93,  McCaffrey began with the Broncos in '95.

But I have one more question.  Anyone know if there have been any fathers & sons to play on the same NFL team?

The name Matthews comes to mind.

Where did you get the idea that he couldn't catch? Because everything i have seen and read is the opposite. Now since he didn't spend 4 years at college his Route running could be debatable but there is absolutely no evidence of this garbage.

    • I agree but he honestly has gotten better about this. Used to be he’d do it like 4-5 times a game, now it’s like 2-3. Overall I’m incredibly happy with his game, his D has been solid and when he is playing his role he’s a solid scorer and one of the few guys who can consistently finish at the rim and provide that threat. Plus he’s electric and LaMelo loves him. Going into the season I was sure he would just be a stop gap here but now I’m reconsidering and could see him continue to be a “core” piece here. Obviously not on the level of the other starters but he is an important cog for this team. We felt his missed presence during his and Moose’s suspensions.
    • Philly will be a bigger challenge than the Knicks were IMO. George and Embiid are back, not sure about Maxey but Embiid alone is a nightmare matchup for us and Moose. We’ve never really done well against him. Celtics added Tatum but honestly not sure they’re all that much better with him right now than they were when we whooped them a few weeks ago. We should be able to at the very least split these 2, hopefully take both.
