Kelvin Benjamin 2016 Highlights

If you really pay attention to those clips, he don't look super fast in any of these plays either but he still gets down the field and makes plays. Speed was never his thing.

But speed should at the very least be a thing for a #1 WR.

It's the trendy thing to do here.

I don't see how accurately critiquing a player is hating them. I don't hate Benjamin. He's just a slow receiver who struggles to separate. Not exactly the kind of guy you want as your #1. Defenses could play us differently.

And it isn't like it's just a fan thing. He got pulled from games last year for a reason. I think it's more unfathomable that so many people want to overlook his issues and pretend everything is okay.

Why do people love bashing Benjamin?

He is still our best WR by far. I like the rooks but they are unproven. KB is still our most dangerous weapon at WR by far.

Because it takes no talent, effort, or even thought to tear someone down.

If you want to trash your own players in May before we've even held training camp, by all means go ahead.

But you look like a fickle fairweather douchenozzle, there's really no way around that.

How is it fair weather? So we can't say anything negative about any player?

Talk about rose tinted color glasses. But fair enough.

It's called a "highlight" video for a reason, there's an equal if not greater number of plays where he is lazy, drops passes, or gets flagged for every play on that

You can say the same thing about Cam's highlights. There are plenty of WTF plays of his people could point out too. Nobody is perfect.

Valid criticism is different from "hating". I'm one of the biggest Gman supporters but I can admit when criticism is necessary. The same goes with players. Nobody is saying KB is terrible. For me it's just knowing what could be if he took conditioning seriously and got down to around 235 lbs. I used to scoff at the 260 lb comments, but the dude is literally that big. It kind of makes sense why he cannot cut or gain separation. He has great ball skills and can high point the ball like no other, but he is limiting his potential by himself and it's unfortunate.

Because when he's towering over defenders catching touchdowns the same people will be swinging from his nuts wanting to celebrate. Yes, fairweather.

Also, there is a middle ground between being a complete homer, and just sitting around talking about how much of a lard ass a player is.

From my perspective I think KB has a lot to prove this year, if he's bullshitting in TC I will be concerned, but this is being overblown right now.

KB is about to have a good year. He wasn't spectacular last year because he had no foil. He had no one with speed to draw coverage, and he was just smothered at all times. We have a balanced offense now.

I agree... just don't agree when people try to make it seem like Benjamin is some legit WR, he's not. People said he got praised for making effort in practice... that's expected of you,  you shouldn't get praised for it, and for fugs sake, he dropped the ball... out here, a WR would have been chewed out for dropping that, and the effort is expected or else you get a spot on the bench. Just wish we had better motivated players on the roster, or a staff that was harder on them to preform at a higher level

Well, if you read the article, you'd realize I had nothing to say about his weight,  I question his work ethic and dedication,  but you can kiss the ass of the author, it reminded me of the same ones written about Armani and how great he was at OTAs

    • Canales up first. Guys got their legs back yesterday and started a little slow when they came out Bryce challenged them in the huddle and they responded "Dominant practice for the defense today." Praised turnovers, "beautiful hits," and being physical Praised Moehrig, Ransom, Incoom, and Jones II Confirmed playing starters. Predominantly a young team and can't pass up an opportunity. Emphasized game day routines such as nutrition, body readiness, etc. Plus it's a bunch of new guys on the defense. Bryce will start. Will play them the first two, but starters might sit for the third game depending on how practice goes that week. Nic Scourton has a mild hamstring that happened in special teams. DJ Johnson had an issue with his hip flare up and is getting checked out this afternoon. Experimenting with approach to preseason games. In Seattle they played their starters in all but the last preseason game and what Pete Carroll was looking for in terms of mental readiness to play football. Thomas Incoom has been getting a lot of work with AC Carter adding to his toolbelt. Getting better as a rusher and being physical in the run game. Looking for a consistency in response. 1pt for a win, 3pts for a TD. Defense doesn't like that, but in games if they give up one go ball the score can swing. They challenged the pass game and the run game today. Guys are getting together before, between, and after team drills to challenge each other Job of the coaching staff to set the foundation for our schemes, philosophy, and expectations of what it's like to play Panthers football. Powerful when players take that and the locker room owns it. That's when it becomes our team, their team. At the end of the day, the men on the field have to rebound from a bad play, celebrate the good plays, and keep each other in tune for a whole game. Robert Hunt is amazing. Size, talent, quickness, flexibility. Really intelligent guy that there will say himself there are technique things he needs to work on. Regardless of where players are at, there's a constant learning curve and loves that Big Rob is challenging himself with the position coach. Thinks the digital down and distance can be really valuable. Getting the information quickly will help with the flow of the game. Thought TMac looked great but there were some near misses that he'll have to get in the room and communicate with Bryce on while reviewing film. James Mitchell keeps doing right and his trust factor is increasing with the QBs. If you're right and the coverage says the ball goes there, it'll come. Had some issues at the start of camp but is trending up. Newton or Person: "It looked like today was beyond thud but short of live. What do you call that?" Canales: "No, that's thud. In my mind, that's what thud should look like. The challenge for our defensive guys is can you put your body in a position where we know that would've been a tackle." Whizzing by, tagging with two hands, etc doesn't show you whether you would've made a tackle. That's not real football. Let's the play extend because guys have to be ready to chase sometime where the ball squirts out from a pit. Can't train to say "Ah, it was a tackle" and relax but instead play with intensity through the whistle. Lathan Ransom is bringing the physical style of play that they saw on film. Has been really into the details and someone that they can count on. Has really given himself a chance to start at the other safety position. Excited for the extra energy from a game-like environment that they'll get from FanFest. Used to have four preseason games and now FanFest feels like that first one. Will give ST full speed reps to evaluate. Making plays and feeding off of the fans. Window closed quickly on the INT to finish practice. CSW baited Bryce with some movement and made a great play. Saw it from Bryce's perspective with TMac coming open. Has played all over the secondary that they can count on to speak loudly and be on the same page with his teammates.
