Remember that little debate about inmates running the asylum  we had long ago ? Thank you for being so honest today , why did you lie back then though

Huh? I don't typically engage in debates here.  Mostly Davos things.

I think that people are still missing the biggest issue, which is HOW you let people go.

And, on an off note, I still believe that the release of 89 was a bad thing. Had we had him, this day would have never come because that magical season would have ended with a championship.

When you guys say "how", what you really mean is that "the player didn't get the celebration and ass-kissing that his overblown ego thought he richly deserved".

Because I seriously doubt that these players were being perp-walked off of the grounds. SERIOUSLY DOUBT it.

What they probably got was a call or a meeting that told them they'd been released, best of luck in the future, and we'll be needing that playbook.  And when that's all they got, their adolescent egos translated that into "disrespect" when all it likely was was spartan and professional.

That's the way *I* see "how" it likely happened.

Well...I doubt it went down exactly as you are suggesting, but to suggest that some of these guys have "adolescent egos" because they wanted to be treated with a modicum of respect befitting of the blood, sweat and tears that they sacrificed for the organization, fans and community. Nothing professional about the way that Smitty was handled. There should be some common human courtesy in profesdionalism. Moreover, politics plays a part in any organization, even the NFL. If the rumblings pertaining to TD and Olsen have any truth to them, then, yes, Gettleman's inability or unwillingness to play his role as a politician, particularly when asked or suggested to do so by the boss, is troubling.

the thing that pisses me off the most about richardson is that he tries to force fit his out of touch philosophies on reality. you can't have your cake and eat it too. you can't make sure all of your hand chosen players get to do whatever they want until they retire on their terms and win championships. you can't win championships with three first round picks at runningback, but if JR lives to be 2000 years old, you'll see 2000 years of rosters with loaded RB depth. he loves that run the ball identity that nobody else really follows anymore bc there's better ways to design an offense.

he, right now, is the biggest threat to this franchise's growth and prestige, moreso than any division rival or nfc playoff stalwart. get out of your own fuging way, dude.
