I've never heard about a player begrudgingly hoisting the Lombardi trophy...

I want guys to want to play here. If you're okay with guys like Smitty, TD, Olsen, etc. getting the shaft because of "it's a business," then maybe you don't need to be a fan of the football team, but more the front office.

Organizations should be built on keeping their investments comfortable and competitive.

Keep your players happy. Keep them performing while they are happy. Profit.

The Panthers will survive this.

The end.

Yeah definitely dude! Let's pay everyone way past their primes to keep everyone happy. That worked amazing with Marty Hurney.

I swear we might have the dumbest fan base in football. I can't imagine there being dumber.

I still haven't seen substantial evidence that either TD or Olsen, or Trai for that matter, have under performed.

If you don't want to pay guys for under performing, then we need to go ahead and cut KB, Funch, Dickson, etc.

The NFL is where you pay guys for what they're going to do, not what they've done.

Can you really justify giving a big deal to a 34 year old guy who's clearly lost a step and a 32 year old guy who just got one a short time ago?

Keep in mind you'd be doing this at a time when some of your young, up and coming stars (Turner, Lotulelei, Norwell, etc) are looking for extensions.

LOL... Somebody plz tweet these comments to players like TD and Olsen...

yeah somebody please confirm what everybody already knows which is that what the players want for themselves (more money) and what the front office almost always wants for itself (higher revenues, lower salaries) is something that is almost always at odds

Again, I keep hearing "lost a step" and "past their prime" with no evidence.

You're the kind of people who put your parents in assisted living facilities!

At some point in time, everyone has to be done. I agree with that completely. But I have seen no evidence that the guys in question are even close to that.

We're talking about probably the fire-iest dude on our offense apart from our QB, and a guy that played in a Superb Owl for us with a broken arm.

Loyalty gives them some cred, but goddamit any amount of reasonable money you spend on that kind of heart is worth it.

Nobody is saying right now, but giving td or Olsen some monster top 2 at position money at their age can be catastrophic for the future for signing young talent. We've seen it before. Nobody on this forum thinks td and Olsen are washed up, but they are 34 and 32. It's just common sense

So giving Jake Delhomme that big extension after 2008 was the right thing to do?

I haven't seen where they have asked for it, but Olsen most definitely is the 1-2 best TE in the league and should be paid accordingly. I don't think TD is asking for top money, just a longer contract?

If we need to trim the fat to get it done, so be it.

    • I’m old enough to remember when I wanted to draft Njoku We brought back Mitchell and officially kept Tremble. Mitchell Evans isn’t going anywhere. Sanders who knows, he was awful last year I fully agree we need a better TE. This room is awful Njoku would be a massive help in the red zone. However it really seems like Dan and the FO prefer to go young on offense
    • You’re underselling Loveland imo. He’s so damn good. You can line him out wide and count on him to win 1 v 1. I don’t see that from Sadiq. Loveland is going to go over 1000 yards next season I’m not overly asking for a WR3. It’s just one of the few directions Morgan could go in round 1.  Let’s say Thieneman, Fano and Cooper are all on the board it’s a tough decision. I just don’t see how this team would take Sadiq over some of those guys given the way they run their offense. Our tight end room is easily bottom of the league so I can definitely see why someone would want a tight end though. At one point during the season I was on the Sadiq train as well. I just don’t think value wise for us specifically it makes sense given our team as a whole As far as tight ends go in this draft I really like Max Klare. Very smooth mover
    • Some of you need some serious help with the way 9 lives rent free in your heads I know for a fact, Dan loves Bryce. Bryce is his guy. This offense is very young and they’re asking Bryce to do a lot. With Idzik taking over playcalling duties it’s a move that is another step in the process of Bryce taking control of the offense. 24 years old. This youth movement on offense and putting more on 9’s shoulders is going to pay off in the long run
