Pros and Cons of Hurney

What really makes me hate this even more is that they have not named him permanent gm, they've announced they're looking for the permanent gm. Dude has absolutely no incentive whatsoever to put forth the dedication and effort the job needs and demands. Plus what if he's still angry over his firing? What's to stop him from handing out mega contracts before walking out the door as a final f you for firing me?

So one of the questions on drafting was how much was Hurney, the draft scouts, and how much Fox. I always felt that player evaluation was not a strength of Hurney and frankly not necessarily Fox. With new coaches and some scout changes I wonder if our drafts would be better even if Hurney was here.

As for draft negotiations, I have no clue who the fool was that decided Everette Brown and Amanti Edwards should have gone very high. I doubt Hurney was the architect, just the negotiator. As for contracts, I have already weighed in on the notion that Hurney was forced into much of what he did when Richardson dumped many vets after we struggled in 2009 in favor of his go cheap 2010 in preparation for an extended holdout which Kraft and Jones among others derailed. So we sucked in 2010 and then gave out crazy contracts in 2011 and 2012.  But I don't remember being in cap hell from 2002 through 2009. Did I miss something?

I honestly don't even care anymore. Football has been ruined by commercials and the panthers were the only thing that's been keeping me even interested, but with a move like this?? We don't care about winning, we're just a nursing home. I rather follow a team that cares about winning then a joke team. Ive been a fan since god knows how long, but this is a very browns move and honestly, I don't even feel bad. Good luck Panthers! Now to invest in actual hobbies.

Why do you think Jacksonville couldn't get anybody to sniff them even with the league's most cap space?

It wasn't until recently when they hired Coughlin which comes from the same tree as Gettleman where all the top FA's are lining up to interview

 

For the majority, FA's care about W's and a shot for the trophy.

Gettleman brought W's much like belicheck.

While Hurney bring Friends much like 2010 when we were down with the Cleveland Browns
